k i have a question about outwit and stealth that im usre has been answered before
Outwit requires a line of fire. It is not, however, a ranged attack action and therefore is not subject to restrictions specific to ranged attacks. Exception:
When used against a soaring character, Outwit is subject to the same half range reduction as a ranged attack.
line.
k here it says that outwit is not subject to range restrictions xcept for soaring... and it says it is not a ranged attack, meaning it can be done by both close combat and range combat?
as in if u r standing next to osmeone u should be bale to outwit their stealth, now I understand this next rule:
A character with Outwit cannot cancel any powers of a character that is in hindering terrain and that has Stealth. Outwit requires a line of fire, and the Stealth power states that “any line of fire drawn to this character that crosses
hindering terrain, including the square that this character occupies, is treated as though it crosses blocking terrain.” Because a line of fire cannot be drawn to a stealth character that is in hindering terrain, that character’s Stealth cannot
be outwitted.
sure u can not do it thru bushes form afar, but when looking at the first rule i believe it says that you can do it from close
because if u can attack someone in stealth from base to base, which u can that means u do have the LOS when standing next to them and doing a close combat attack, since stealth is NOT a ranged attack, standing next to them should give u a LOS, just as it does for close combat attacks.
looking for opinions and something offiial thx
cheers
My opinion is, well if you can 'see' the guy well enough to make a close-combat attack, then you should be able to 'see' him/her well enough to outwit any of their powers. I believe the official ruling, however, is that you may not outwit a figure with stealth that is standing in hindering terrain even if you are standing next to them.
Officially you cannot outwit a stealthed character under any circumstance. Outwit is not a close combat attack nor is it a ranged combat attack. It isa a super power with it's own rules.
Actually it makes a lot of sense. If a figure is so hard to see in stealth it makes you get up close that all your concentration is required to find the stealthy figure in the first place. Think also about the Invisible Woman/Girl, SHe has stealth and it is supposed to be invisibility.
It doesn't work that way. It isn't that you are close enough to finally have LOF and therefore make a Close Combat Attack. The reason you can attack a stealth character with a CCA is that the CCA does not require LOF. It is impossible to draw LOF to a figure with stealth through hindering terrain. It doesn't matter how close you get to them. The LOF cannot be established. Therefore, you cannot use outwit on a figure with stealth who is in hindering terrain.
