It looks like the FAQ answer you quote refers to using pulse wave normally and talks about ignoring standard powers on the dial when doing so. How does that apply to damage dealt by using Nova Blast? Perhaps this question should be dealt with in the forums...

When it comes to Superman and Batman, Grant Morrison is nothing but a 50's cover band in a 70's psychedelic funk style.
Very strong beginning and end, but a HUGE glass jaw middle dial for his size. Especially with poor mobility, since phasing goes away. Thanos kicks his ### for 28 less points.
As cool as this guy is, I would much prefer he have charge to start out than have running shot at the very end. It's just hard to get him into battle and even with the 19 defense with all the high attacks in the set all it takes is one fig from HoT with a inside information slapped on them to start knocking this guy around before he can do much. Still uber powerful and quite fitting for the character. Would have liked an Odin-Sleep special power though
At home, in those awesome 1000 pt games, I have created the Ultimate Guys in Chairs team. Odin, Wizard Shazam, Metron, Armor Wars Magneto, and Fantastic Forces Professor X. All just sittin there. Doing nothin. Nothin but kickin yo ###.
I'm not feeling it. Odin should be more beastly than this. Cosmic, Pulse Wave, damage reducers, outwit and PC are all appreciated, and they work, but the rest... No. Phasing? Force Blast? Running Shot at the END? That much 3 damage? SUPER SENSES? The dial just doesn't work for the cost, and it's easy to see where the cost went... Such a shame...
With the right team build around him, he can be extremely dangerous. That being said, for 295 points, it shouldn't require "the right team build" in order to be extremely dangerous. I imagine Odin being a bit more hardy than this dial portrays him.
Overall Im pleased with this piece. In the right hands someone can use this piece very effectively. Like robedestoyer said, for 295 this isnt bad, in fact thats great to work with. Defense never dips below 16 before KOing, but I would ask for more probability control through the dial instead of only towards the end like so. Sculpt is a little eeeeh, could be better, but what the hell do i know about sculpting anything?
He is pretty decent, but seriously....Odin should be a monster of a clix. I dont think they did him justice, but that said, he still does alright for himself on the battlefield. I have two of him at the moment, and I am thinking if no one else wants my spare I am going to place his dial on the Wizard Shazam! because to me, that is what this dial represents better. ;)
I mopped the floor with a thanos team in a tournament last weekend with Odin. Also a superman prime team and a Dark pheonix team. I stayed behind heavy objects for the extra defense and threw them for the extra damage. Tk'd objects to him with GL. And perplexed him if I needed to with Amon Sur and GL. He had nova blast on him but I never had the chance to use it. But if I had, no force on earth would have been able to with-stand the awesomeness.
If you want a 295 point slug to sit in the middle of the board and get wailed on, then Odin is the piece for you! I beat the #### out of this piece with Our World at War Superman. Nuff said.
Yeah. Odin with Streak of Luck, Asgard Warrior, Valkerie 37, Howard the Duck, Alpha Oracle, In contact on the first 4. Give Odin the token to use Oracle powers (MC, ESD, Perplex)
Amazing 500 point team that can own a 800-900 point team.
Just got mine today and I ran him in 5 games against Thanos. in 2 games he took no damage, in one he took 2 damage, he lost one game by a few clicks (Thanos was on his toughness click), and one game he outright lost.
The trick with Odin seems to be knowing when and what to outwit, and when and where to position. With Thanos you just base him and clobber him with superstrength.
Awesome Piece, although I wish he started with Prob control. Some day they will come out with a 19 or 20 natural defense figure with prob control and I will be able to die happy.
Iron River Read my wife's comic or I will say mean things about your dog.
I suckered these guys into playing: Feedback Damage
Odin is a beast. Everyone relies too much on move and attacks. In the hands of a good player though he'll tear through "world at War Superman" with out getting up from his chair. I'm so glad they made Kid Zoom. I like HSS but see it so much that its fun to put together a team without it and Kid Zoom and watch everyones strategy fall apart. If your a good player than this is a good piece for you. Nuff Said (with a snarky mocking tone).
