say you have some elevated blocking terrain. Any situation where there are 2 or more connected squares of such terrain.
By the faq you can destroy 1 of those squares with an attack of 3 damage or more.
My querry?
So now we have 1 elevated blocking terrain with at least 1 side without a thickblack edge, but touching the new hindering terrain rubble square[formerly the adjacent elevated blocking terrain square].
Can a non-flyer, non- L/C have access to the elevated blocking terrain square via combat or movement through the newly created rubble.
Keep in mind that the existing square could be come unoccupied.
Keep in mind that only flyers and L/C are legally permitted to be within an elevated blocking terrain square.
Do you see what I am getting at? If one such square is broken is the new rubble square adjacent to the blocking terrain square with on 2 or 3 sides that have a THICK black line?
There is a host of issues with this one
thanks
wes
under blocking terrain it states that the outdoor blocking terrain are AC vents/ chimneys, etc.
Then it states that outdoor may be destroyed adn a singel rubble tile is placed in its stead.
Then it states that thick black lines on indoor maps are INDOOR BLOCKING TERRAIN ..these may be destroyed and a rubble tile is put on either side of the broken wall.
I do not believe their are any other outdoor blocking terrain except those that are elevated. Anything else with a thick black line are buildings which cannot be destroyed.
so it must refer to the elevated blocking terrain squares
If I had a character on elevated blocking terrain with the L/C power...this is legal.
And then the character lost the L/C power, the only way it could get down was via knockback or another character to assist.
If it was one of those SINGLE square blocking terrain vents, then the vent would have to be destroyed with an attack that cause 3 damage for the character to exit said square...
So what happens if there are 2 adjacent elevated squares with the trapped figure who lost L/C.
And the other square is destroyed?
Can that character move off?
Can that character be attacked from the 'rubble' square [is it even adjacent??]
the character would be able to attack/be attacked anyway via ranged combat. (please keep in mind I know very little and these are the applications of common rules with a lot of speculation attached). he should be stranded up there unless he is knocked back (in which case he takes 2 damage) or until a friendly figure breaks the elevated terrain (2 damage for falling anyway). He can not be flown out because there is no way to get a flier adjacent to him. Oh and the character shooting into the rubble has to appy the hindering terrain modifier now. Again im no judge just a fanatic so this is how I would play the situation if playing casually with friends
????? it technically is or is NOT another level. wouldn't you take falling damage if it IS another level. Im picturing standing on something on top of a roof and falling onto the rooftop, (I guess it wouldn't hurt super heroes thought) would you take knockback damage for falling off the EBT?
I guess you can assume that the elvated blocking terrain is just a few feet high...10' or less. whereas a building might be the average brownstone of most cities and about 40' high, thus no damage for falling from knockback.
Many judges/players and rules arbrritators surmise there are 3 levels [including soaring]
But all of that is hypothetical since there is no mention of it.
AND it sounds resonable except for 1 major clitch.
A soaring fig blocks los; and as such block LOS when in the path for:
grounded to grounded ranged attacks
grounded to elevated ranged attacks
elevated to grounded ranged attacks
and elevated to elevated when the soaring figure is also elevated
BUT when the soaring figure is NOT elevated and the target is on one elevated building and the ranged attacker is on another elevated building with the soaring fig in the path
AS per the rules..only other elevated figures block los.
So as per the rules Soaring CANNOT be classified as its own level.
Hence back to my reasoning about the last situation compared to all the other situations. The soaring figure is actually below the level of the rooftops but more than the few feet off the ground like hovering.
Why then do they get the half distance bonus then? Well, Game mechanics...they have to have some benefit for 'not 'being able to attack back!!
