Its easy, just give a Rating from 1 (Jaws 4:The Revenge) to 10 (Jaws), and thats it. Course I'd love to have you all give reasons as to why you feel it deserves this Overall Rating, and more than encourage discussions with us all about them.

HCR Rates The Movies Is Back! Come and share your thoughts on a TON of films, new and old! Our latest movie - BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE
Though I am saddened by a lot of the films that it has spawned and I really dislike the true crime and serial killer genres, I have to admit that this movie scarred the pants off of me as a kid and still freaks me out now.
None of the recent torture pron movies have even come close to the original (along with Last House on the Left). This was psycho hillbillies, kidnapping and gore all rolled into one spookiily believeable package.

8.5 out of 10
I'd like to point out that TCM is almost entirely devoid of any gore. The movie does a great job of making you think you're seeing these horrid things happening, but it's all off camera. The movie is extremely tame as far as explicit gore goes.
However, it cranks the atmosphere up to 11. The feeling of this movie is insane. You can't help but feel dirty after seeing it. It looks like it was filmed on a handheld and almost feels like a documentary.
True, I have to say that there is definately a minimal of visible blood and gore in this picture (hard to believe when we think about what this film represents), though they did such a good job of creating a sick, gory, perverted and warped atomsphere that you think youre seeing loads of gore, when youre really not. Overall this story of a sick and twisted family that killed people for furniture and food (amongst other reasons) is quite the Horror Classic and still holds of today I feel. Yes there are definately scenes I felt went on too long or were mildly annoying (the final girls SCREAMING at the end dinner scene was enough to make me gouge my ears out), but I truly liked the low budget, documentary type feel of this film overall, which made you feel like you were really there, or just in the audience watching a movie. While its not one of my favorite horror films, I do respect what it was (especially during the time it was made) and still feel that it holds up quite well today.
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre - 8.50 / 10

9.5 of 10. As close to perfect as it gets. This movie had such a great effect of making people believe that is was much more violent than it is. Movies today just can't match the atmosphere it created. Spacedye said it best when he said it made you just feel dirty. Classic horror that the remake couldn't begin to come close to.
9/10 It really and truly is one of the greatest horror movies ever made. The sequels and remakes all fail at capturing what made this movie such an achievement (although 2 has Dennis Hopper which makes it badass in its own right even if its a dumb movie) and instead have to resort to gore and excess violence to compete.
The only way this movie could be better is the one thing its missing...
BRUCE CAMPBELL!
