It's turn one of my 1000 pt Avengers vs JLA fight...I Running Shot w/ Iron Man to nail Hawkman on the edge of a building top.
My friend says he's read that Iron Man subtracts one from his range because he's firing up an elevation. Is this true?
I've always played that the only advantage is LOF.
Also...
If you're TKing a character, does the character you are TKing block LOF?
No penalty is given to Iron Man for firing to (or from) elevated. That penalty is only given to TK (which you would subtract 1 from your range), and the use of ladders (on movement).
And Per #2 regarding TK. Per the FAQ:
"When a character uses Telekinesis to make an attack with an object or move an object or character, that object or character does not block the telekinesis character’s line of fire. A character may therefore use Telekinesis to attack a
target stealthed character, using the object that the stealthed character is using to activate its Stealth power."
So the answer is no, the character being TK'ed does not block line of fire.
Yes, it is clarified in the new July FAQ (which I suppose is not tourney legal 'til tomorrow) under the Telekinesis heading.
The range penalty is defined in the original rulebook under TK:
"Add 1 square to the range cost for targets on elevated terrain. For example, if a target is 8 squares away from the attacker and is on the roof of a building, count 9 squares for determining range. Count range from the object, not the character."
Note that last line. Spiral has to be 9 squares away, but your TK'er could technically be 10 squares away.
