Waid went out of his way to mention that KC Superman had completely overcome the effects of Kryptonite in the miniseries..... so why does the new Kryptonite man get to affect KC Superman? Weird.
It's easier that way?
You should listen to Geekspeak. It might change your life or something.
Also, I write about Heroclix for Lost Hemisphere as HostBryan.
Batman was in the Bat-Cave at the time. I wouldn't exactly call that paranoid. Kal's line about it representing what's wrong about the mainstream universe is a bit dubious - if anything, the ring was a sign of trust. As Kal-L visits Bruce within days/weeks of Kal-El attacking Batman while mind controlled, Kal-L's condemnation of Batman lacks any punch.
He didn't get it out of a drawer, Grumpy. He pulled it from his belt. I understand it was given out of trust...but it was being maintained on his person as a sign of paranoia...remember, just before Kal showed up, Batman was about to break down.
I know we all get different things from these comics, but the main theme of the story was why the Trinity couldn't get along and that needed to be fixed.

Another of the themes of the series was why modern comics aren't "broken," though, despite Kal-L's condemnation of the universe. Yes, Batman needed to trust his allies more - but Kal-L also was judging some of the heroes all wrong.
In some ways, that scene is really representative of both of those themes. On the one hand, Batman might be flipping out a bit more than he should. On the other, Kal-L actually destroys something based on the misunderstanding that it represents Batman's paranoia rather than Superman's trust.

I know I defend Kal-L alot around here, but he eventually saw he wasn't really going about his issues with the universe in the right way. For what it's worth, I don't think he was 'right' to want to bring back Earth-2. But if you'd been in a prison for the 'crime' of saving the universe, you might look at things as they existed at the time and want to bring your universe back over theirs, too.
Bruce, to my mind, had gotten to a point of ludicrous paranoia by that time and was suffering because of it. The OMAC thing went way wrong, the Justice League came apart at the seams, etc. all because they couldn't get over themselves and each other.
Infinite Crisis has it's faults, but it remains a book I read and re-read fairly regurlary.
The scene from Infinite Crisis actually HINGES on Kryptonite only affecting Earth-1 Superman.
Yeah... the three of them had been affected by the red sun... How Kal-El made it so long after flying through the sun and getting hit by kryptonite beams is beyond me. Fun story though.
They say the best weapon is one you never have to fire. I respectfully disagree. I prefer the weapon you only have to fire once. That's how Dad did it, that's how America does it, and it's worked out pretty well so far." Robert Downey/Tony Stark
It's really not worth me arguing about, anyway, as I'm well aware of what Johns actually intended. I just think that his explanation is daft.
They also illustrated another strange interaction between iterations of the same person having headaches when the other was around... Power Girl and Super Girl, Alexander Luthor and Lex. the explanation on that one was weird..
I think that even the matter transmuting dude from the legion of superheroes (element lad?) that was from Earth Prime was actually able to affect prime before biting the dust. again they used the dimensional explanation......
This Kryptonite Man is obviously from earth 1.... so Why NERF KC and E-2 Supes? If He is going to be affecting multidimensional Supermen, why not make him a chase, instead of the way too awesome to be that rare, Black lantern Corps?
( I broke the bank for a martian manhunter and a black hand clix..... Freaking Black Lanterns... Arrrgh!!!!)

its always a mystery to me. The Majority of players likes their rules and powers as simple as possible. then there are people who want make it unnescessary more difficult
i mean really people do you want an extra character card for KM to list which figures he hits with his special power?? and more, every superman from now on would need an extra entry if he isaffected by KM
instead they just said every figure called superman or has the supes TA (which includes other characters like supergirl) I hope if there is a zod in the next set he will get the Superman TA too. I even think Kryptonite man should have affected every figure with superman in the name so he could affect young superman.
And what if geoff johns or someone in the next story retcons the kryptonite vulnerability??
Agreed. There comes a point where "comic accuracy" just becomes "pointless bookkeeping" because it's not worth the effort of keeping track of everything.

I think the only way the book keeping could work is to dodge the proverbial bullet of simple names and refer to figures as the fans do. In this case, instead of 2 chase figures being called superman, you could say on the dial and card seperately "Earth 2 Superman" and "KC Superman" to reference the implications of their storyline importance.

Effectively neutering Kryptonite Man's power even more? So he affects all of...what, two Modern Age characters? Three if we keep Superman Ally in there?
And shall we next say that the Black Flash's powers don't work on Marvel speedsters because apparently there is no Speed Force in the Marvel Universe? Or Kid Zoom's, for that matter?
There comes a point where it's just easier - and better - not to micromanage things too much.

Yeah. I hope no one was taking our argument about what Kryptonite affects who as anything other than comic book talk, and not necessarily what Kryptonite Man affects in the game.

They're not going to say, "this power only effects the past and modern representations of a character named 'Superman.'" There are dozens of powers that make little since, like this one. It is nothing new.
