I never really wanted to read that, cause I thought it was too much of Marvel riding the coat-tails of DC's Kindom Come. But sitting at Borders today I read the whole TPB from cover to finish. I was pretty impressed overall. That was some killer inter-connectedness they pulled out. And seeing the Watcher go down faster then a fat kid in dodgeball brightened my day. Sad to see Black Bolt go, but atleast he went out like a champ. Next sunday gonna have to do the follow up and finish of Universe X.
Earth X is wicked good. Universe X suffers from not having the same artist. I don't feel like walking the 18 feet to my bedroom to look at the TPB and find out his name, but the guy who drew Earth X is leagues better than the Universe guy.
I might have a bias against Universe X, because I bought the thing without realizing that there was a "Part 2." Now I have to spend another $25 just to find out what happens. And then there'll be Paradise X...
"My fellow Americans, I'm pleased to tell you today that I've signed legislation that will outlaw Russia forever. We begin bombing in five minutes." - Ronald Reagan, 1911-2004
It took me a bit to adjust to the art in the Earth X/Universe X. None of the artists really appeal to me too much but I think they do go well with a story of that magnitude and don't drown it out. Gonna check out Universe X this weekend. Ill post my opinions later.
I loved Earth X (and Universe X, can't wait for Paradise X to be released TPB)! Alex Ross is the new King of Comics.
On thing to remember though. And I'm not saying this to be derogatory. Earth X IS Marvel riding on Kingdom Come's coattails. The whole concept behind Earth X was Wizard: The Guide to Comics asked Alex Ross to show what his ideas for a Marvel Kingdom Come would be, and the result was a mini-comic with sketches. The fans (including myself) freaked out about how awesome it was, and Marvel took it from there.
As for the artist(s). I think Earth X's interior art is better, but Universe X is nothing to sneeze at. Leon did a fantastic job of recreating Alex Ross' style of realism for a "comic book" style, whereas Ross himself goes for photo realism.
I've only got one thing to say: Multiple Man.......ewwww.
If you get it, you get it. If you don't, read Earth, Universe, and the almost finished Paradise X books.

I recently saw Paradise X comics and I skimmed through them and from what I saw, I'm totally hooked. I like it very very much. But the thing is I don't know a thing about Paradise X, Universe X or Earth X whatsoever. I don't know what Kingdom Come is about too. Can somebody fill me in please? I'd like to read them very much but I want to know what's this universe is about. Thanks any help is much appreciated.
In minor defense of Marvel, and lately this is new for me...Kingdom Come is pretty much DC reviving the Utopia Project storyline from Squadron Supreme.
As a sidenote, I can not wait to see what JMS is going to do with the Squadron this August. Supreme Power is a must have IMHO.
Yeah that looks sweet. What he's done with Spider-man has been amazing. I never that book could be turned around after the whole clone debacle. I wish they'd let him do something with Dr. Strange. He's a character just waiting for the perfect writer to get behind.
