Great attack values are the only thing this version of Thanos has to offer. The near absence of powers is the major problem here. No outwit, no mobility, no nothing. A gross underpowering of one of the most powerful characters out there.
The numbers are great but missing a few colors. Needs Charge, Phasing, Mind Control, Telekinesis, up front Impervious, Regen on click #6, Energy Explosion, Force Blast, Psychic Blast, and Outwit.
Don't know how to fit it all on his dial, but it should be there!!!

how time changes things... these days, hard to see why this was once one of the most powerful figs in the game.. still, an attack value of 13 OR HIGHER for the first half of his dial remains nother to sneeze at... it's just everything else that makes Thanos fans so sad.
An amazing sculpt that I wish were transplanted onto the usable Supernova replacement as, if the sculpts were to do battle, this one would Chuck Norris the other horrendously.
6 clicks of 13 and up AV is nifty. 185 points for not a single power other than damage reduction and one click of regeneration and 6 clicks of base 2 damage makes Baby Jesus cry.
I look at that 15AV and think I want to mercenary him to syndicate and laugh at Nightmare's 14AV, but Thanos' 185 points doesn't allow for a single Syndicate piece in existence of higher point cost to pull this off. Ah, well.
I had my reservations about this figure even back in the day, as a mere 3 damage with 13AV was nothing at 185 points when 97 points bought 13AV and 5 damage (from range) with Vet Firelord. Neither one has any move and attack, so Firelord won out then and now. And that Firelord can still be a great figure. This Thanos... not so much. Not sure if he was even a great figure back then. Pre-fortitude, this guy was a sitting duck waiting for the old outwit and 5 damage brought by a Black Panther and a TK'd firelord.
This Thanos is a classic but it's a great example of how Clix SHOULD BE
He is a super power house...he is the like basis of the set almost (Infinity Challege....Infinity War/Gauntlet...think about it)
But he can't be given all the powers he has in the comics without making him well....like the new Thanos haha
But this is what's so cool
He flies around with awesome stats and hits hard and you really get to feel like Thanos...just laying really hard smacks and people barely being able to make a dent before you smack the #### out of them (read the trades)
Sure he can thwarted....but you can't thwart raw numbers....10 range.....18s and 17s.....awesome attack...plus when he lacks in defense he is easily healed....and gets that bit of annoying Regeneration
Alot of people greatly dislike this Thanos but if clix were what they used to be....he would be the basis of powerhouses......there'd be no special powers out the (well...I can't say because of censors) but yeah....there'd just be some Chase Superman with like 16 attack, 9 clicks of Impervious....20 defense and 15 HSS maybe.......some Super Duper Superman....but he can Outwitted and Perplex'd if you catch him...plus he takes up like 10 million points
This guy isn't great, even for his day. Everyone is hot in the pants for his attack and defense values, but he can't do anything with them. For half his life he can't even crack Invulnerability (He was even worse back before Perplex was added to the game). My friend used to try to use him as a gimmick, but for 185 points, it never worked.
Also, we pulled a HYDRA Medic with his dial once. That was the most devastating 12 point figure in history.
Is it a good figure? I don't think so. The real question is : has it ever been a good figure? I'd say yes, imho. Back in the old days of IC, the Thanos guy was a masterpiece. It lacked all flashy powers (and surely he deserved some, at least Outwit, and not only on the first dial!) but was very strong. Thanos' Damage value was a bit too low, but his DV and AV were awesome! Thanos at this time was among the best! Now... Many think about it as a piece of junk. I can't completely disagree. It's expensive, it lacks versatility by all means, it starts at a poor 3 damage value. It was a good depiction of Thanos, when there was no HSS Superman, Impervious Magog or Outwit-all-the-dial-long Batman around, but now... The Supernova Thanos is MUCH more powerful, accurate and versatile, more fitted to the game HC has become. But keyword of the IC Thanos are more accurate anyway (he shouldn't have Infinity Watch since the model is obviously a depiction of Thanos as lover of Death. Supernova Thanos, as the post-Infinity Gauntlet, scheming Titan, might have : Infinity Watch, Cosmic and Warrior).
Beautiful sculpt for it's time.
Waaayyy back in the day, IF you landed on click 3, you were doing well. He was one of the first Uniques I pulled, and was on the first epic 300 point game I ever played (we thought 300 points was so big when we tried to build), Now, junk. Then, junk mostly, but it was cool to pull him out and say you had a Thanos. Thats about as far as he made it for me after his 1 appearance on teams.
Logan:I'm an X-Man and on 2 Avengers teams.
Mockingbird:How the hell do you do that?
Logan: Multitasking. Its my mutant power. Dont tell anyone.
He's a bit dated, but he'll never miss. If you play ICWO and the Alpha Oracle with him, it makes a bit more sense. An enhance or two and Thanos here is a beast like he should be.
A great alternative to the Supernova version (and much easier on the wallet). Not So Special and Shellhead keep him under 200 points and increase his effectiveness even more (16 AV; 19-20 DV when pushed). Awesome addition to Infinity Watch teams, especially with Moondragon (HoT) and Adam Warlock (SI) (triple Perplex). Mercenary could work with him in high point games (1000+), where he would benefit the most from the Mystics or the Superman Enemy team abilities. And, as MopedKid86 metioned, an absolute beast when used with Batman Alpha Oracle and ICWO: dual Mind Control that most likely won't ever miss!
