I was told this by the Judge in my gaming group but then he allowed it because RS is worded differently now!

You can target up to as many opposing figs for ranged attacks as you have

(legal targets of course) except when a power, ability or game effect says otherwise.

Running Shot has always allowed this. Are you maybe thinking of RCE which has been and still can only be used against a single opposing character?

And since thats always been the case I assume there is some confusion in the original question. For instance you can't use RCE with running shot or multiple

EDIT: beaten by a few seconds.
