Post-Keywords, Doom still triumphs! Look at those keywords! Would he be competitive without them? Yeah! Now Shazam and Scarlet Witch have his back? Look out!
My personal favorite clix of all time. Don't worry about his low late-dial numbers...if you know how to play Doom properly, you'll never turn his dial anyway. A true legend of the game and obviously the man they had in mind when they created Brilliant Tactician (I don't care if Richard's picture is on it, they were thinking of Doom!).
Many reviewers will say that he falters at the end of his dial. To be honest, in the 4 years of owning this piece, I've never seen past that first click.
He is the absolute best WildCard, high point Mastermind figure there is.
Oldie and goodie. At 200 points, doing double target EE or Incap seems like a bit of a waste and topping out at 3 damage seems a bit low, but Doom manages. Feat the heck out of him for added fun (Fortitude, Protected, Nanoarmor, Armor Piercing...).
Devastating figure in the right hands and a great sculpt, differentiated from the Doombot just enough (he's got the world in the palm of his hand!)
This was the Doom to beat, up until the SI/FF expansions of mid-2008. While he wasn't ever perfect, time has aged him fairly well. Especially good mix of support powers and damage reducing. His latter dial low attack numbers are his biggest downfall.
In his opinion, this guy still has the best Dr. Doom sculpt!
One of the few old pieces that still holds up and long the Commander-in-Chief of my heroclix armed forces but by today's standards, he's quite overpriced and top heavy, stats-wise. I also think that any robot or character who wears armor should have at least Toughness all the way down their dial. At no point should some bum off the street be able to punch Doom or Iron Man in the face and do damage. Regardless, he's still quite fun and effective. Minions of Doom team + Inspiring Command is loads of fun, especially with E Klaw standing behind Doom, trickshotting through him.
This piece is a GOD. I love him. And a bunch of useful and great keywords. Only downside is he's soft on his first click, but a high DV Mastermind will prevent him from being hit. If you play him right, he should never leave his first click.
this guy won me many tournaments back in the day! especially in large point games... would always team him up with somebody who had a GL team ability & batman team ability... so he could carry up to 8 cheap MM fodders and a hide in stealth so he could not be the target of a MM outwit or even attacked by range... sometimes i'd even stick fortitude on him... occasionally, depending on the points, i'd team him with Icons Supes or Ultimate Thor too, so he could ignore stealth and would have a tough teammate to back him up and distract from him... yeah, easily a top 10 figure from the golden age and could still hold his own in modern age as well
On the contrary, Doom's a fineness piece. That's what makes him so great. I intend to play him in a 400-500 point Modern Age format team someday, and abuse the hec out of his Wild Card TA. Makes the top ten Heroclix Hall of Fame. (Along with Firelord, Nightcrawler, Thor, KC GL, etc...)
