But I do fondly remember going to a fairly new comic book store called, Comic Carnival in the Broad Ripple section of Indianapolis at the time with a friend of mine back in the summer of 1977. He got Amazing Fantasy #15 and Amazing Spiderman #1 for $175. I left with Daredevil #1-3 for $62 that day, and came back a week later to get #4-27 for just under $100, I had them hold for me on that first trip. You cant find any of these books at those prices anymore.
That's a testament to the power of the older Marvel stuff - it meant something, and you remembered (as I do) where and when you saw, let alone got, those older issues that you'd hoped to get. I completed most of my Avengers/IM collection when I was in college from a place in St. Paul, MN called Uncle Sven's Comics. I bought 'em directly from Uncle Sven, the former owner, from his personal collection, which he brought in long boxes (by appointment only) in the back of his car. We actually did the deal out in the street by his car, parked in front of the shop.
I agree with you hultquist. But not just Marvel, even DC and some Indy books. But those days our long gone and finding those type of deals nomatter where you live is extremely rare if even that anymore.
Fortunately for me, I don't follow the Daredevil comics.... but just as a warning.... the title of this thread is very spoilerish. I'd close it and hope it sinks to the bottom asap.
Eh it's all over the internet and it's not official. He's fine.
Are they? I always saw OMIT as the twisted justification to finally shut up the marriage-fans.
Yeah, he's actually got a new girlfriend after this arc, and it's confirmed that MJ's his ex, but she'll still be around. The obvious candidate for Peter's new girlfriend is Carlie. ...But still... it seems so wrong... they better not screw things up.
You mean like reveal that Carlie is actually the soul of Gwen Stacy bonded with another body

Yes and no. I feel that in the case of Flash, Green Lantern and even Green Arrow to an extent their replacements surpassed them. In Hal's case, they even made him the Spectre which is just about as powerful as one can become in the DCU, so he still had a place and appearances in comics. My character was replaced by someone who has absolutely nothing to do with the original and is similar in name only.
Fair enough, but again, your opinion is that the replacements surpassed them and that the Spectre was a nice fit for Hal. I humbly disagree. Replacements are replacements and the crap storyline that killed Hal and then made him the Spectre wasn't right. He's back as the main Lantern, as he should be.
However, since I have received a nice reprieve with one of my favorite characters, I will hope that some quirk of fate brings you your wish as well.
Matt won't stay dead if he dies, and very likely won't even be dead. He'll not be Daredevil for awhile. After the stunt he is pulling do you think anyone would allow him to continue operating?
I'm more concerned/confused by the "new man without fear" thing. What is that supposed to mean? Someone going to put on the daredevil costume and protect hells kitchen? Just someone to protect hell's kitchen? Run around as Daredevil elsewhere? Or is it just some stupid tag like Green Lantern being DC's "Man Without Fear" that doesn't really mean anything?
As far as I can tell none of them has a connection to Hell's Kitchen, so that seems out.
Kraven - Why would he ever take over the Daredevil role? Doesn't even begin to make sense.
Black Panther - Why would a ruler of Wakanda be mucking around in NYC?
Gambit - No NYC connection. Has his own team. Morally very ambiguous. Seems like he has more going on.
Nova - The most fearless of the bunch but barring losing Prime Centurian status why would he be on Earth, let alone Hell's Kitchen? Overkill.
The Falcon - Strong NYC connection. Not up to much now that Steve is busy running everything and Bucky certainly doesn't need him around. Mostly obviously "street level" on the list. I could see him taking over Hell's Kitchen protection duty. Problem: he loses his entire identity if he changes costumes.
It doesn't make sense for someone to take the DD costume and Name, at least no-one on this list. Taking over Hell's Kitchen as a Patrol route makes sense but is a "so what" plot point. Being named metaphorically the new "Man without Fear" doesn't mean jack squat. I'm guessing Falcon steps up and watches over Hell's Kitchen at Steve's request, then absolutely nothing interesting ensues. It reminds me of the whole "Who will wield the shield?" thing, only even though we knew it was going to be bucky, that actually kinda mattered.
