... Scarlet Spider ... and his web power has the most potential (who cares if they reduce damage, they were hit, they get stuck!)
I don't know, I kind of like the red-suited Spidey's web ability -- I don't have to hit you at all, if I can see you, I can web you. And as long as I'm cleared, it's a free action.
I do like Scarlet Spider's web power -- I can EE you, and then you're webbed. But I do have to hit you first.
Spider-Man is not a good comic character so why shoudl he be a good heroclix character answer me that. You arelady got your 50 point Kelly Bonilla power creep crapheep in secret invasion what more do you want

Longest-Reigning Drunken HeroClix Champion - anyone got a liver?
Sorry, I hadn't read the whole topic. But that's never a good reason to keep my mouth shut, is it ? No, it's not.
Is the Spider-Man "classic" from WoS the best Spidey around ? Hell no ! THere are some older version (and I mean older) that are far better than this one. My favourite is still the Vet from Critical Mass.
Is he comic-accurate ? Yes, I think so. To a point, a least. He can land a blow or two, he's a pain to hit, and he can use his web to glue you. He's not the big Spidey of his late career, teaming up with the avengers and facing guys like Morlun but Spidey wasn't always that big. He used to kick mugger's ###, remember ? THe Enforcers, the Syndicate, they weren't really cosmic menace, were they ? And this one can deal with guys like that on its own without sweating too much.
Is he playable for his cost ? YES, definitely. His Spidey-Sense rocks. I fought against him with myu Syndicate and believe me, without Goblin's habit to throw people - especially blondes - from rooftops using Force Blast, I may not have deal him one damage at all during the whole game. 18 defense + 50% chance of losing a clear hit ? it's bad. His attack and damage is not bad either. HIs web power may not seems that impressive but it doesn't cost a thing to Spidey, so why not ? Once again, he's not cosmic and will be less useful in 500 pts format, but in 300 pts, you got something you can play with.
Do this version lack powers ? Yes, of course. Incapacitate is always great on him, as do Combat Reflexes. But hey ! At least he's cheap.
And above all else, there is one thing that makes him truly cool : of the two possible choice for Peter Parker, he's the best. The Back in Black version is better at full dial (starting orange he sucks), but if you go "friendly neighborhood" for Peter you will end up with this dial for 50 pts Peter Parker/Spider-Man AE

Defense - SPIDEY SENSE: : Spider-Man can use Super Senses, but evades the attack on a result of 4-6. Damage - WEB: WEB-SHOOTERS: : Once at the beginning of your turn, if Spider-Man has no action tokens, as a free action he may place a Web special terrain marker in a square occupied by a target opposing character within 6 squares and line of fire.
Don't underestimate this Spidey : he is Peter's costume of choice.
That's just my 2 cents

Interesting concepts for the late blooming alter ego Spidey. I am personally not a fan of the Alter Ego clix, as I think they juxtapose the idea of the normal game mechanic. For taking damage/pushing, and then taking a power action to transform into their Alter Ego, I feel they are fairly useless to the game mechanic. They are not a threat, and they can easily be wiped from the board as well. I'm not sure the AE's should have to take a power action to make the transfer. But alack, what more can you get from them?
Still their are no significant differences between the two Red and Blue Spider-men in this set - 78 and 90 points. They both off of the front have leap/climb, super senses, super strength, and the 90 point version starts with webs opposed to 50/50 Spider-man; 50/50 has Spidey Team Ability. They definitely could have made some alterations to both of these characters to get some differential. Example, make one of them more powerful or significantly underpowered than the other - going in the direction of the ever-classic Rookie, Experienced, Veteran format of the gaming. This could have been well executed, however, we received the latter.
Look out! Here comes your friendly, neighborhood SpideySteve. Catching comics and writing reviews like a Spider can. Thwip!
