For the record: I do not share this sentiment. It got me back into X-Men comics after I quit collecting altogether because my collection was stolen.
I'm not saying it applies to everyone (I thought the climax worked well given what Morrison was trying to accomplish with the series, but that particular reveal and what followed was problematic to those that never want the comic warhorses like X-Men from changing in any meaningful way), and the ending ending does a good job at setting up a new status quo for the characters and also provides emotional satisfaction, which was important considering the changes he made--particularly with Cyclops and his love life.
I enjoyed Ultimate X-Men until about the 8th story arc or so. After that they just started ruining most of the characters and even some so the cool stuff that had after that couldn't help the downward spiral. Ultimates is good. The Ultimate universe just got way off track with people wanting to cause a shock by killing off or drastically changing existing characters.
I didn't like Morrison's run, but a lot of good things came out of it. Actually, I probably would have liked it if not for the end.
Don't read this if you haven't read Morrison's run, but -
It makes no sense that

Cyclops would ever allow Magneto anywhere near the X-men again after that?! Or did they decide it wasn't actually Magneto? I never really understood the whole Magneto/Xorn thing.... there were two separate Xorn's, or something like that; it seemed like they gave up on trying to explain it and just moved on.
I have to agree about X-Factor. It's great, and not tied down with as much continuity as the regular X-men. I'd highly recommend it. I'm also enjoying Uncanny right now, but I think you really need a lot of the backstory to get the full effect of it.
