Last night I was playing on the outdoor map that came with the Fantastic Four Starter Set (I'm a newb ).
Anyways, when dealing with the force fields (denoted by thick orange lines), does the little grey thing at the ends of the force field still block line of fire? My friend said I didn't have line of sight, OR at the very least, that it counted has hindering terrain, so he got the +1 to his defense.
I assumed it was just artwork, for the following reasons:
A. All different terrain is surrounded by some color of line (red, green, ect).
B. No where else on the map is there terrain that only takes up half a square.
Here are some pictures of the map in question for clarification.
Yes, you had LoF (Line of Fire) just fine, and no those are not any kind of terrain as you noted. All terrain has some kind of colored lines around it, which that clearly doesn't. Your friend should not have gotten any kind of hindering terrain bonus.
Trade to Canada. We're friendly, and we love Beavers..........

Thanks! That's what I figured, but I wanted some backup, ya know.
On a funny note, the person who was questioning the line of sight still questions. LOL. I said the cat who answered had like 6000 posts......so you have to know your stuff!
Just for posterity, is there a rulebook quote or something I could toss at him? He says it could go either way, and I say it's definitely just artwork.

It's more the absence than the presence of something. Hindering terrain is delineated by green boundary lines. The markings in question are not surrounded by green boundary lines.
From p. 11 of the 2010 Core Rulebook:

HeroClix has five types of terrain: clear, hindering, blocking, elevated, and water. All types of terrain (except clear terrain) are indicated by boundary lines drawn on the map:
• Squares inside a green boundary line are hindering terrain.

Thanks, that is perfect. Sorry for sounding ungrateful for the original answer, because I'm not.
