This BD Aquaman is the first Aquaman I have wanted to actually add to my JLA team builds. I don't care that he isn't the "definitive" version of the character in clix form, he plays well and can handle being in the battle. This dial is actually decent and more in tune with how I view Aquaman to be when he has to be on land assisting his teammates. I will be using him alot in "The Seven" themed teams.
I've really been wanting to run him for awhile. I may run him this weekend if I get to play. Him and Namor are itching to smash some surface dweller faces.
It's like Michael Jordan going to the YMCA to play basketball.

Really? As the Mouse says, either of the JL versions really play like him, have the right keywords, and leave points for others. I like this Aquaman just fine, and in higher point games I might reach for him, but otherwise, I will still play with the JL versions on the Harbor map.

Additionally, he can't use Lunge to break away and use Move and Attack. He loses use of HSS if he starts adjacent to an enemy, and the Lunge movement is immediately before the attack. That is, as soon as he moves the 2 squares, he has to make the attack.
Hmm, maybe I need to dig into the rules forums to see how Lunge has been ruled. I know there have been mountains of timing clarifications on it.
When I looked into the combo, I noticed this in the Player's Guide: "To use this feat: (1) Announce the action the character will
take, even if it is not a legal action from its current position,
as long as it can be adjacent to an opposing character for
step 3."
So, I thought the order of operations was this: 1. Announce targeted character for attack, even if current attack option is illegal. 2. Break away automatically up to 2 squares. 3. Perform action which must end in a close combat attack.
If that were the case, even if HSS weren't legal at the declaration of the action, it would be after the breakaway.
If the order of operations were this: 1. Announced target of attack. 2.Begin action. 3.Interrupt action to move 2 additional squares. 4. Perform attack. Then I guess it wouldn't work.
EDIT: Ah, yes, I found this handy clarification thread that Marad put together, and I was indeed using Lunge backwards.
Back to the drawing board.

I made a team with this Aquaman, slapping on Armor Peircing, Submerged, and Lucky break, and filled out the rest of the 300 points with Atlantean Warriors. Played on the Web of Spidey map, but still played Atlantis Rising just in case
Basically throwing fishy suicide-bombers at the oncoming army while Aquaman held back (mostly) and waited for them to soften them up. The atlanteans did get some good licks in, but their primary role was to just die. Wich in itself is it's weakness... since all the fodder= limits on how much I can do.
After they realize the strategy, they generally swarm Aquaman.
One round... guy came in with Nightcrawler, bashed one and drug him back for Iron Fist to pound on... and that flurry sucessfully crippled poor Kurt.
Edit: Submerged doesn't work on Transporter fish? Crud! Oh well... maybe throw on the cheap 6point regen and... something else to round it out.

I have captured the enemy for meat testing. Praise me... PRAISE ME!!!!
Stingray has a much better dial then the Atlantean warrior in my opinion. While you lose the key word ... stingray brings more to the table. For starters he is 6 points cheaper(29pts to Atlantean warriers 35), sting has 6 range (warrior has none)and leap/climb so you opponent cannot run from you plus he has an extra click of life.

Aqualad is my generic Atlantean...sub.
His "to the deeps!" power (or whatever it's called) makes a huge difference, and the Willpower is very nice as well.
