Well, they were both quite similiar in overall style, both not bad songs, Ill go with Nanci Griffith in the end I think.

I think one of the signs that you're officially a grown-up (or nearly one) comes while you're listening to the radio and for the first time, suddenly hear a song that puts a lump in your throat, even if you're not entirely sure why.

Well, this one -- written by Jimmy Webb -- is mine.

I like both versions here. For what it's worth, you can also hear it done by Amy Grant and Shawn Colvin does a fine version on her "Cover Girl" LP.

But Glen is the one who got to me first.

I think that I liked Nanci Griffith's voice better, but the lyrics sound like they should be sung by a man, so Glen Campbell wins.

I like Nanci Griffith, but in this case, I'm not sure her version did that much for me. Glen Campbell

Nanci's cover was good and I can appreciate what she was trying to do with the song. But, it just wasn't 'believable' to me. I wasn't buying it. Glen Campbell's original had just enough emotion to draw you in and settle you down without becoming sappy or over-sentimental.

Though I should have put Glen up against Shawn Colvin since that's who Soxolas wanted. He offered Nanci Griffith up and I chose her but from now on I'll only go with the match that the person who recommended it wants.
