so as the title states i have a 1000 point silver age match coming up and i am thinking of using the new gl's and doing a green lantern team. it consists of WL hal jordan, guy gardner, john stewart, kyle, ganthet and from the gl collecter set tomar re. that comes to 995 and i figured i would throw in 5 of the one point wonder herself lian harper. what do you guys think? i would love some feedback

What are the rules? I don't really think of Guy Gardner as Silver Age, but I could be wrong.

when we say silver age it means all figures but no feats or bfc you know not quite golden but not modern either

While I think that Ganthet is a real beast, I always worry in big point games about not having enough actions. Now, I just started tossing some things about, and came up with this:

Tom -- when he says "Silver Age", he means "All figures are legal but no feats or BFC". It's basically "Golden Age" with no feats.

As for the team:

First of all, you realize this is not a theme team, correct? At 1000 points, you need 7 figures with a non-generic keyword to be a theme team. If you want to run this team, you can certainly run it, but if you're looking for theme team bonuses, you need to add another Green Lantern Corps figure to get the bonus. (Since you posted this here in this forum, I'll assume you are looking for a theme team and make recommendations based on that.)

Second, does your venue count ATAs as "feats"? I would hope not, but you never know... The Green Lantern TA is expensive and wasted on a group of Green Lanterns, so I would recommend using the Green Lantern Corps Honor Guard ATA. It'll cost 35 points for 7 figures, but I've found it provides a unique set of bonuses to the Green Lanterns and it FEELS like a Green Lantern battle.

To use it, though, you've got to change the team up a bit.

I personally am not a fan of this new John Stewart, and unfortunately, I don't John has had a decent Clix made of him, certainly not one that anyone would reach for on a regular basis. (In fact, I think the "best" way to play a John Stewart is to put the figure on the 90-point Justice League LE Green Lantern #104 figure and use that.) However, if you're trying to use the new GLs, I'd recommend dropping Ganthet and adding a couple other GLs in order to make it a theme team.

(Like I said, I personally would use the 90 point Green Lantern LE from Justice League instead of E Jade, and you can throw the E Jade figure on that dial... a much better figure for 2 less points. But that's just me.)

Remember, the ATA says that when you ATTACK with a Green Lantern, then the other GLs get the increasing bonus to their attacks. It doesn't say you have to HIT with a GL before the other figures get their bonus. So you can use the ATA two ways -- you can attack with your best figures first, hoping to get a hit, and then give bonuses to the other GLs, or you can attack with your worst/most damaged GLs first, knowing you probably won't hit, but giving the bonuses to your later GLs. Either way, the ATA helps out someone on your team.)

yah wasnt sure if it was 7 or six figures for theme i know u round up with combat values. yes ata's are allowed. I am hoping for theme and i have to borrow tomar re as it is but maybe i get a hold of some of the others i have all the 75 th green lanterns and the blackest night hal but for green lanterns thats all i personally have. one of my big concerns is fielding a team that could at least give Big G and the other collosals a run for thier money i love all the suggestions and gunna have to think all over again funny i pulled so many super-rares that i am reall short handed on rares no joke pulled three hal jordans wl hal jordan 2 barry allens 2 wl superboys golden supes and golden ww and doomsday in the span of a brick and a half. funny thing i was a major sinestro corp guy but i just cant seem to build a good even team with them really praying for an ata for them.

I also have a feeling one of our regulars is gunna run galactis cosmic spidey and a rulling caste dom.
