After the character resolves a close combat action, it may be placed in any square in which it may legally be placed adjacent to a target of the action at the same elevation as the target.

Sorry if this has been asked before but if it was, I couldn't find it. If you KO the target of the attack can you still vault, even though the target of the attack isn't on the board anymore?

Actually, I can't recall that question having been asked before... and it took me a bit of searching to decide on an answer. The rulebook says that a KOd figure is removed from the game "immediately". As such, it won't have any other figures adjacent to it. If you KO a target, you can't use Vault.

I think your reasoning is sound, but their could be some small paragraph in some lost document, that I don't know about.

That's what I assumed too but who knows. There are lots of rules that seem cut and dry but aren't. Anyone know for sure?

As far as I know, you are you of luck and can't reposition yourself.
