Well, it's rare that I'd vote against The Beatles, but...
Here I am, didn't even have to break out the Dinosaur Victrola...and I'm looking out the window, wondering what all these happy creatures are doin' on my lawn!
That said...
The Original -- Buck Owens & His Buckaroos, please!
Good one, Spike!
Tim Burton was right: "A square jaw does not a Batman make." Steve Buscemi as the next Batman! Luke Perry as Joker! Let's make it happen!
Thanks, I felt this matchup would be a good way for all you Arena regulars to get to know my musical tastes.
Having said that, I gotta go with Buck, too... and not just because I live in his hometown of Bakersfield. The Beatles cover is good but Buck just owns this song.
Buck's version was good...but, there's just something about that skiffle beat the Beatles infused the song with. Then there's Ringo; his voice gives it this playful quality that adds some humanity to the song and makes me believe he's more like me than Buck is - "the biggest fool to ever hit the big time."
I find it incredible that I am saying this in any Beatles vs. the Buckaroos matchup, but to me its really no contest.
Buck Owens & His Buckaroos for the win.
I saw Buck Owens and Roy Clark at an RJ Reynolds company picnic roughly around the late seventies. Of course the company had money to burn (cigarette manufacturer), and they performed in the Wake Forest University football stadium (Groves Stadium), so it was a good enough venue. I think Hee Haw was still popular and it was a great show!

Doc, I would trade my Blue Cheer-Iron Butterfly concert experience in a heartbeat for your Buck Owens-Roy Clark. Got to see Johnny Cash perform, but I'm sorry I missed out on those two fellers.

There's just so many great performers out there in all styles of music. I don't get to see nearly as many live shows as in the earlier days, but rarely ever pass up an opportunity to see someone I haven't seen before. I think we all get a richer experiance in person (except for a Kris Kristofferson concert- see my previous rant). I would liked to have seen Iron Butterfly or Johnny Cash, but sounds like we've both been lucky!!
