I have mixed emotions about this one. I can be caught regularly listening to the great blues singers and players. But Hendrix can make them all fade away for me like so much white noise.

I was thinking about running the Wolfmother version but that's really a cover of the Hendrix cover so I didn't. Gotta go with Muddy Waters for my vote though.

All I know is, when I was in a garage band back in the '60s, one of the songs we had the most fun playing was a Yardbirds cover of something we thought belonged to Bo Diddley.

But then some expert advised that, in fact, the true original was by Muddy Waters and I've been confused ever since.

In that sense, the more things change, the more they stay the same.

As for the matter at hand, I love Jimi, but in this case...
