Anti Monitor is one heck of a serious threat. One overlooked fact is his phasing teleport + multi attack. Because Multi-Attack is a power action, Monitor can use it to jump in, and then fire a shot off with his second action. When going against such a mobile threat your only real hope is running shot and hypersonic speed - a skilled player just wont reach him with charge.
I'm not saying Mark Millar should hang. I'm just saying if you all come to your senses, I have the rope
"Colossal characters using the multiattack ability may not use the following powers and abilities during a
multiattack: Phasing/Teleport, Regeneration, and Support. Feats may not be used when using actions granted
by Multiattack"
FF Rulebook:
MULTIATTACK Give this character a power action. It can use
two free actions against up to two targets per action. These free
actions can be power actions that include an attack, close combat
actions, or ranged combat actions, though free actions gained from
this power can’t be used to activate this power. Make an attack roll
for each attack, if any. Any damage dealt by one of these attacks
is reduced by 1, minimum 1 damage. This character can’t use feats
when using this power. This ability can’t be countered.
So Phasing/Teleport does not work with Multiattack.
The new GSX Sabertooth makes him alot easier if he can hit Anti-Monitor for 3 or more damage at some point, no more healing for you giant cosmic man :P
Why wouldn't exploit weakness work on him? Quintessence only prevents outwit, exploit weakness does not counter a power it ignores it.
Quintessence/Power Cosmic
•Powers that allow you to ignore other powers would still be effective against a character using this team ability. Exploit Weakness, for example, does not counter damage reducing powers, but ignores them (because it is Penetrating Damage), so it would still work against a character with this team ability.
It's not Quintessence that makes him immune to EW; Anti-Monitor has his own rules that says:
"He is not affected by Exploit Weakness, Force Blast, Incapacitate, Mind Control, Plasticity, Poison, Possession, Psychic Blast, Shape Change, Steal Energy, Support, or any ability, power, or effect that reproduces those powers or allows their use."
Booyah :P
This is how the current rules for Multi Attack work, effective 8/2/2011 (Golden Age Player's Guide Pg.51).
Multi Attack
Once per turn, give this character a power action. It can be
given any two actions as free actions. Resolve the first free
action before giving it the second. Modify this character's
damage value by -1 to a minimum of 1. This ability can't be
countered.
Anti Monitor can use 1 action from Multi Attack to move, and then use the other action for any type of attack he currently has.
He is extremely devastating. I recently beat him at 600 points using
Crisis 105 Superman, Veteran Icons Superman, Lyssa Drak, and Rookie Mystique. It was a very close fight.
Anytime someone wants to play a large game (800+) points, I am going to use him if I really want to win. He would be albeit impossible to defeat, with the right support pieces.
Yeah, try that move with the venue judge around here and you'll end up with your head in your hands. Galactus is the ONLY figure to ever have MultiACTION and that figure was more broken than a stomped on bug. I move up, blast you, then move back. or I move and blast twice.
The wording on Multi-Attack is put that way so that you can running shot with.....The DOFP Sentinel on top click, then use RCE the second attack.
Always try to leave an internet argument at lvl 1!
Those are how the current Multi Attack rules work; as defined by WizKids. If your judges don't like it, it doesn't change anything. If they choose not to use those rules, or modify those rules, then they are playing HeroClix using "House Rules".
My experience using the Multi Attack rules in their current state is that they are very strong. However, Anti Monitor is still beatable even when playing with these rules.
the special rules quote 'The ANTI-MONITOR’s player can push him on any number of successive turns, even if he already has two action tokens on him; the Quintessence team ability protects him from pushing damage that would normally be taken for doing so.'... does this mean he is not effected with colossal stamina??? and therefore does not take the unavoidable damage?
