Not that it matter here as it still hit but perplex goes away whenever stats change so in this case once you hit Aquald with Nico the -1 to his defense went away

Doh! Forgot about that, thanks for the catch . Lucky for me I still hit, Chase desperately needs some stats. I have my eyes on the Lunge feat.

Actually when you crit miss on support it's the person you're trying to heal that takes the crit miss damage.

also, you can't use perplex when using support. well, i mean, you CAN use it, but you can't gain the benefit of it during the support action. support uses UNmodified attack and defense...
