Is there a way to save all the figures I own in the Units page so I can just have it show the selected units I own- or do I need to input this each time I do a build by release set?

When you log in to this website you have to check the box remember me for it to remember your inventory in the units section.

It is remembering me when I log in-
but it even forgets the inventory while I am still logged in- so if I go from Hammer of Thor, click all my figs, then go to Super Nova click those-
Go back to Hammer of Thor and nothing is selected-

is there a way to save to inventory that I am missing

In the H/W button.
Your "keep" inventory.
You may access that list under the tools header in the left side of the units section by selecting "your collection".
