Bad Company owned this song in my mind. It may be the fact that I heard the song from them first, but damn were they good.

I love both versions, but I prefer Mott The Hoople's original. I also understand a vote for either!!

Two great groups doing the same song, oh wait! Tghe song was written by Mott the Hoople's guitarist at the time, Mick Ralphs. Yep, same Mick that talked his new group into redoing the song. As bands go, I'm more of a Hoople-head, but Paul Rodgers' voice is fantastic and I give the nod here to the cover

For some reason, this made me think of Badfinger and Harry Nilsson. Much as I love Badfinger, while they wrote "Without You," Harry Nilsson's voice just lifted the song to a whole new level.

In this case, the voice doing the heavy lifting belongs to Mr. Rodgers.
