It's so interesting to hear you say you like swarm teams.
I very much don't and find them to be usually unplayable. Now, of course, this rule is broken if the swarm all has some fantastic form of back-up support power.
For example, I had a buddy, he brought 7 figs in 300 pts, 3 had prob con. He only had 2 strikers, (and of course, both we're pretty wus) but with 3 prob cons every turn he did very well. Same with outwit. 3 outwits are going to shut down a lot of teams.
Now, as to my personal play style... I play whatever I feel like, usually in a theme of some sort. Often the first time I play a team, I will go theme, just because it forces me to use figs that are 'suboptimal'. Then if I'm really wanting to up the power level, I start to bring my stronger teams with my stronger (read more efficient) pieces.
For example, my first set was WoS and I got almost all the pieces to the set as I was having a lot of fun with it. So, in one evening of play, I'll bring: The Sinister Syndicate team ... Doc Oc + 1 pog, Sandman & Mysterio. That's a nice balanced team. I've got Prob con, Outwit, a tie up piece and a strong striker.
Then, if I'm feeling silly and just want some good fun, I'll throw down Iron Man & War machine. They get out actioned, terribly, but against one of those 6 man teams, they can hit everyone and do tons of damage on their one attack.
so it's tough to say this team will always win. Each has their own strengths and weaknesses. But, my highest recommendation, if you're looking to Win, is to find the most broken (read efficient for the points) figs you can and then wallop your friends who are playing silly teams. (Like my friend made a fat guys team. No technical theme team, but all the characters were fat or pogs)

Sometimes all they need is a useful TA.
A Shield Swarm of snipers can bump up each others ranges or damages without any help at all.
Sometimes all you need is a good general as well.
My SHIELD team is always golden age because the snipers troopers and agents from sinister are retired and the newer ones cost a bit too much in my opinion.
With that said I will always Play SI Nick Fury with coordination, contingency plan and brilliant tactician.
He may make 1 attack the entire game but he is the cog that makes the team tick. If he is KO'd the generics lose a ton of boosts to let them hang with the big boys.
Apokalips can similarly benefit with a Crisis Darkseid, a couple Drill Sergeants and a ton of normal Parademons. I can't wait to test drive this with the new Darkseid.
