Damian, for example, is patterned after a character archetype I personally can't stand: the precocious, cocky youngster with an attitude. I've only read his early appearances in Morrison's Batman book, but every time he spoke I wanted Superman to backhand him through a wall.
Lol, very well explained and you painted a great picture in the process. Again, I agree with you 100%, but Damian supporters (that tend to often be Morrison loyalists) that would certainly disagree.
I kind of want to travel through time just so I can show Ron Marz what would become of his great character idea, hoping that he would never ever create him.
But then I wouldn't have had 10 years of great Kyle stories before Hal was reborn.
I like Hal, I really liked rebirth ... but Kyle has been butchered as a character, with only hints of what he was (like the mural on Oa). I really miss what was a unique character.

Kyle started off as a hated guy by many, equally loved by many... When he went throw-down with Drayven (think that was the name of that particular brat of darkseid), and later the fella who was looking like he was wielding ORANGE light (but really seemed a precursor to the Sinestro Corp)... and upgraded into Ion 1.0 (the white and green uniform, split consciousness, cosmic awareness)... I thought maybe we had finally a character in the DCU that was on a level with both Mar-Vell AND the Silver Surfer... not simply in power, but more in what they did with that power. Then Hal came back... Rebirth occured, and Kyle was shifted into Corp... don't get me wrong, I think he's often been sold short. If anyone's got imagination to really make that ring go to town, it's Kyle. But putting him with the Blue Ring was begging for him to be made into the "Earth Lanterns Screw-Up". Nearly as big as some view John Stewart to be for the course of action he took (whether it was the right decision in the end or not, is up for debate).
Regardless, I'm kinda concerned about the pacing for this New Guardians book... as if Kyle experiencing ALL emotions such that he was viewed as worthy of ALL the rings kinda leaves me wondering- are these "new guardians" gonna try to supplant the immortal Guardians of the Universe since they've chosen to go all cold vulcan with disregard for other opinions and any value of emotion? If so, Kyle, Fatality, Bleeze, Atrocitus (who may shortly be without a corp if a certain Green Lantern has anything to say about it), Munk and Saint Walker (as we've not seen Glomulus' avatar show up yet, iirc), are going to be in for a rough ride methinks.
"A" is "A". And no matter what universe he's from, Luthor... is Luthor.

I didn't think that we were supposed to like Damien early on in Morrsion's Batman and Robin title. He's a little bastard who goes for sneak attacks against Tim Drake and acts like a royal brat. He even threatens Alfred; nobody who does that is supposed to be liked. That's what makes Damian interesting for me; he's Bruce's biological son, so he can't just be dismissed, but he doesn't fit in well with Bruce's adopted sons (that whole killing thing he enjoys so much really makes him a downer to be around).
Damian has improved since he was first introduced. He's still arrogant and impulsive, but he's already grown a little as a character. I really liked him and Dick as a duo.

Well, to be fair, I'd dig it if Damian Wayne just kind of...fell into a giant garbage disposal/got offed by the Condiment King in a stream of spicy mustard.
Do you really want Damian to follow in Jason Todd's footsteps and become another Red Hood? You just know that's what would eventually happen.:speechles
