I was thinking (and this will probably be a month or two from now) that it would be fun to do a game based on those books.
Instead of playing as the characters from the books, you'd play as yourself, a tribute from one of the twelve districts (who would all have different stats and skills) and I'd create an arena similar to the ones in the books for you to compete in.
Instead of voting off players, it'd be similar to Venomdabomb's Arkham Riots game, where players can use a variety of "night" actions to evade, outwit and defeat their opponents until only one is left standing.
Just wondering if enough people like the idea to make it a viable game.
I would it help my case much if I said there'd be no writeups to catch up on, no spoilers, and no need for previous knowledge of the story (not because I'd provide mass text a la 100 Bullets but because I'm only taking the concept, not the characters from the books)?
Sorry, dude. My gameplay stinks when I have complete ignorance of the source material.
Sounds like an interesting series, though. Hope to be able to read it someday.

Well not only would you not need to know the source, knowing the source wouldn't help you. No characters would be taken from the books. No secret tips for surviving hidden in a story you haven't read.
The only thing from the book is the basic concept of 24 people set loose in a dangerous wilderness. Last person standing wins.
You are yourself. Stan is Stan. Thorknight is Thorknight.
No mafia. No voting or day phases, either. Rather, I'd pm you the situation you're in and your decisions (and predetermined stats, basic things like strength and speed along with a combination of predetermined and choosen skills like sword fighting, swimming or stealth) would effect the success of your actions as well as combat.
It would really be more like an RPG than a mafia game.
