Just my two cents, for what it is worth (and I've played the GoW games), I think it is an amazing idea, what I think is horrible though is to make the clix and then do nothing to support them later on. I am all for adding new stuff to the game, but I don't like to see stuff added that will get put into a binder/box used for a couple months and then left to rot because the company used the name to make a couple of quick bucks.
Come on everyone, answer this question: Would you rather they put that effort into MORE Marvel & DC sets or into these spinoffs? It's not the definition of a HERO that matters, but remaining true to what made the game great. Let's face it, there's Marvel & DC fodder for years worth of figs and new rules and new scenarios.
If the drive is to expand the reach of the game, then I agree this is not the right approach. If the drive is to feed those already loyal, then in my opinion, give us more Marvel and DC...
I would rather see more spin offs of things i'm interested in (such as video games) then get more versions of Superman when I have 3 playable ones already. As long as I get my usual DC/Marvel sets I have no problems with mini expansion sets like these giving me more options. I like having options.

What you describe sums up ActionClix. I think that's also the reason these are HeroClix figures and not ActionClix. As part of HeroClix the figures get more long term playability, and bring people into an environment that exists already and will very likely continue to exist for the life of the company.
Doesn't mean we won't see another GoW set until some thing like GoW 4 comes out, but there's a much better chance of additional properties like Halo, or even select figs from other HC sets appealing to someone who's interested in GoW.
Between LOTR, Street Fighter, Iron Maiden, and now GoW, I sure am glad I'm not a completionist anymore. But I don't like these releases not because I will be forced to buy them (I won't), but rather because I'll have to fight against them at my venue. I prefer a pure comic themed game. I don't want my Masters of Evil have to square off against Bilbo, Chun Li, and Eddie.

I feel the same. Not to mention, concerned that if they make the non marvel and dc properties clix tough enought to take out marvel and dc clix, it could cause some to say, the game is ruined, or why bother buying anymore or as many marvel and dc heroclix figures, and the game and revenue mose dives, since marvel and dc was the staple of the game and brought in the most money.
