He does get worse as he loses confidence. See his dial as he gets beat down?
Just because hes a Superman homage doesn't mean he needs to be broken and overpowered. And certainly should be compared to the overpowered All-Star Superman who was one storyline specific. And again, his unique aspects are perfectly represented by his dial. And hes lost to more than just CN. Hell, Cannonball beat him.
Also, that Thanos was a Clone... so that doesn't matter.
And are you serious with that last line? "Character's Actual Abilities"?
You do realize these are fictional characters right?
Come now beast you were the first to make reference to a comic by mentioning what happened with cassandra nova. So when I say "actual abilities". You should know I am referring to marvel universe or marvel database that gives the stats and "actual abilities" of all characters as written by the creators or who ever else.
There are quite a few people that may interpret some people's comments as whining. For that I will say every one has an opinion and that is all it is. All-star superman is at 300 points as well as the brick toting one. Sups at his finest. Gladiator should not be 300 points as he is Marvels attempt at the man of steel. That said as I have said before in no way shape or form should quasar out weigh Gladiator in terms of point cost. He came from a Cap set that was pretty balanced on point cost across the board. 1 or 2 Clix of ko w/ atleast a 7 range and indomitable and he would be gold. Right now he is silver lol. Under 200 point brick that can put hurt on higher point Clix is still great though.
I'm a big fan of Gladiator and I really like this dial for him. It's clear that not everybody agrees with me and that's fine, different strokes and all that.
I don't think he's deserving of indom personally, when he starts to lose confidence, he really phones his performances in and pretty much gives up, in many ways it's the exact opposite of what indom represents. I do agree however that he's not as straight forward as he initially appears, he comes out strong but falters quickly as you get deeper down the dial so he needs to be played with a degree of care, while remaining aggressive to feed his trait.
If he shows up in the CTD then there will be two other versions of Gladiator to choose from and I expect we will see a decent amount of variation in the dials.
All in all, I'm pretty happy, with Gladiator and the set overall so far.
Dial is okay I guess. The range sucks. Gladiator is more likely to do the "fly-by heat vision" thing way more than Superman. I can live with no Indomitable to represent his confidence thing but not both that AND the pretty significant dropoff in stats. If anything, he should have had a solid dial until his last two clicks and then let him drop off with Regen. The confidence thing is still canon of course but it hasn't been any kind of actual FACTOR in Gladiator's combat showings since like the late 90s. Overall it's okay just because he's under 200 points but his low range combined with his fairly average defense means that he'll be lucky to get 2 or 3 uses out of his trait before he drops.

So here I go adding to Kaitouace's sig again, but he hit the nail on the head. FOOM is very playable.
Actually, to be even more technically correct, he is a pre-crisis "knockoff" of Superboy / man.
He is far, far faster than current Superman (Gladiator has been clocked at 100 times the speed of light (per Mr. Fantastic).
The reason I say both Superboy and Superman as reference for Gladiator is becasue Gladiator is a "homage" to Superboy as the Imperial Guard is also an Homage to the Legion.
But the name Gladiator is really a reverse pun on Superman - since while we can say Gladiator is derivative of Superman, the inspiration that Jerry and Joe had for Superman was from the book Gladiator by Philip Wylie.
See Superman was actually a "knockoff" of the guy in that book titled Gladiator who gained powers from radioactive isotopes from his scientific father. These powers included super strength and steel hard skin. Basically the original superman powers were based on the character in the Gladiator novel.
So you read that Craked.com article too.
Salu Digby as LeVIathan in clix!

Good idea. I'll Perplex his range from a 5 to a 6 so when I make my Hypersonic ranged attack I will be able to boost his range from a 3 to a... 3. Yep. That would be incredibly useful.
Your math is a little off there. Add perplex after you cut the range in half. So it would be 3 + however many confidence tokens you have.
I don't know about you but if I have a character w/ 5 12 HSS and SS I'm not thinking about nailing somebody w/ a ranged attack. I'm picking up a heavy and squashing a GSX Professor X w/ a 7 (or any other nearby character that I can one shot), gaining a confidence token and then using it to perplex my up to 19 w/ Impervious. Rinse and repeat.
I'm perplexing the range once I land on those RCE clixs.
i like the old one better. this one definitely takes a hit better but i liked the huge effective swing range of the old one. and so range seems a little short too.
I hate this character. Ill take great pleasure from watching him fall on the battlefield.
I love this character. I will take great pleasure in watching him take down others on the battlefield.
@Hourman:
Yeah, but Gladiator is a little more consistent to me. FF Thor is very nice, but I think that the extra 45 points is coming from Gladiator's trait. So while their dials are very competitive, that trait is going to be a deal breaker.
I always thought he was an 'Ultra Boy' knock off, but I guess that's just me
Let's be honest, they're never ever going to get these 'Hypothetical' figures right. The Hulk has limitless strength, Taskmaster can copy the skills of anyone he sees, Gladiator is as powerful as he is confident, all these 'unknown variable' characters are always going to have that 'hypothetically infinite' concept, which will -never- live up to a fanboy's standards.
The only thing I look at is if it plays like the character. If it comes into the game, and it plays out like it would in the comics, I'm happy.
This Gladiator leads his Imperial Guard into battle, and makes a couple showy entrance moves. Picks up a building, obliterates someone in one punch, etc. Then, when the fight actually starts, and he hasn't already auto-won, his confidence starts to wane, and if the fight lasts more than a few minutes, he's already lost.
I think he's perfect.
