Basically agreed. I love 'em, but they're not "good". I could point to maybe three Dragonforce songs that are independently meritable music, and the rest of them is either bad or part of a long, unbroken blur of vaguely awesome, over-the-top power metal that I'm on board with only when the situation calls for that kind of thing. Probably wouldn't want to see them live. Do want an hour or so of them on my ipod for the times that I'm in the mood for them.

Camel....

Now that band has whole albums that segue amazingly and really jam. Definitely the best discovery in a long time.

For all of those death metal haters out there, I discovered the band Camel because it was a huge influence to the leader of Opeth. Unfortunately Camel was not as big here in the US as my dad and his friends never really heard of them.

Yeah, I liked them. Both Mirage and the Snow Goose have songs that flow together pretty well. I have Moon Madness on vinyl but if I attempted to get it out to listen to I might have a week longongoing battle with my wife.

Anyway, here's a one hit wonder band from the 80s that took their two best songs and mashed them together. It's probably impossible to hear separate versions of them now:
