@ mouse, I agree with simplicity. I understand your point with the break a way and like powers though too. I really only brought up the hypersononic topic to begin with after seeing the trends at some IG sealed games I was playing. Format was one hulk one superman. The lack of hulk figs used got me to even consider this line of thought. Nice clix cast fodder though.
The issue with the rules is as old as the game itself. They get changed almost every freaking year because some powerhouse figure breaks the old rules and players out there throw a little kid temper tantrum that they are now losing to this new piece. The company should have made the majority of the rules set in stone and only modified something based on the way they lowered or upped the dial average for making stats. Changing how powers work just because of a Perplexed up Sentinel or Icon Superman is no reason to change how we play the game. It's confusing to the veterans who have been playing from the start, and even more so to any new player trying to learn how to play. Hypersonic used to be full movement range...OOPS, now it's just half for a piece in range. Leadership now gets to take an action token off of a friendly? Break away charge also always annoyed me. The power action should be to break away, not break away AND charge....that's like giving two actions in one turn. If you want to fix rules, fix that one. Basically, it goes down to this: NECA is the company that bought the Wizkids brand and they don't really have any interest in the finer points of how the rules are except which ones will make you all happy enough to keep buying the product and giving them a profit margin. This is the reason why it is better sometimes to just play the game at home and streamline the rules to actually make sense instead of playing the tourneys and getting frustrated when yet another rule is tweaked or all around manipulated due to someone crying foul over it's abuse. There is always going to be pieces that can use the current rule system (and I say current with a bit of jest, since they never last for long) to their advantage and dominate, no matter what tweaks are made. I have decided that enough is enough. No more tweaking! LOL
I think the phrase you were looking for was "Murphey's Law." In reference to breakaway, this "law" pops up a lot.

I am in favor of streamlining the game and making it easier for everyone to learn. Less exceptions to rules, more overlapping rules.
Back when they changed HSS to nerf Icons Superman I could not imagine why they didn't just change HSS to the very similar transporter move and attack ability, namely applying a -2 penalty to attack. This change made sense to me: you're moving at a very high speed, so accuracy may suffer. I'd probably have given the Flashes a TA to prevent the -2 modifier when attacking. Lightning Bolt FTW!
In re: Flash as an HSS'er with 3 damage.
Flash used to be able to "hypersonic windmill" and hit you for a total of 4 damage, which made up for the 1's and 2's assigned. He can hit you with a 500+ mph punch. He should have more 3's AFAIC.
In Re: Plasticity v HSS - I wish Plasticty worked against it.
Mr. Fantastic wraps himself around Quicksilver. Thing grabs Quicksilver. Quicksilver can't get away. Characters shouldn't be allowed to Leap/Climb away either. Batman is gooped up in Clayface - how is a grappling hook / swingline going to get the gunk off?
Regarding breakaway: It's always seemed odd that any Super Strength figure can't just push aside Mary Jane or Aunt May when moving. Super Strength figures, at the very least, should get a bonus to break away.
With that in mind I'm in favor of a like vs like rule for break away.
HSS'ers can't auto break away from HSS'ers.
Leap/Climb can't auto break away from Leap/Climb.
Plasticity can't auto break away from Plasticity.
Super Strength cannot auto break away from Super Strength.
And of course teleporters could go wherever they want.
It's also seemed odd that my figure can't break away from Plasmus, but they can be carried away. Plasticity *might* be altered to prevent adjacent opposing characters from an automatic break away when carried...
However, with my "simplicity rule" above, I concede that I don't need more detailed break away rules in order to keep the game simple. Keep the dice rolling vs the rule pages turning.
Anyone else get some spots of dead air in this cast, or did I have a bad connection?

Excellent post and rep. I was actually thinking about creating a thread regarding asking about plasticity and automatic breakaway powers. At the very least, HSS and Leap/Climb shouldn't get automatic breakaway. Give them a bonus perhaps, so that they have to break away like normal (4,5 or 6), but those powers make plasticity absolutely useless and it's makes no sense from a balance standpoint and even less sense from a comic accuracy perspective.
Mr. Fantastic is the exact example I thought of. If he's wrapped around someone, how is HSS or L/C going to be of help at all? I think doing that would make plasticity a much more valuable power and bring a lot more balance to the game, especially regarding HSS.
As far as the numbers comparison for DC and Marvel on HSS, I don't think the quantity really capture the impact. Even with significantly few speedsters for Marvel, the HSS figures of choice at most times have been Marvel. If there's similarly costed HSS figures during a given period, the Marvel ones are usually the most feared or played on more competitive teams.
CT Nightcrawler > HT Flash
Aurora and Northstar > Jesse Quick and Impulse
Cosmic Spider-Man > Superman Prime
At times there's no equivalents, but it's probably been about even over the years. DC had Black Adam and Icons Superman, Marvel had Ms. Skrull-Vell and WSM Nightcrawler.
I agree with most of what you guys said, except for one case. When my opponent is rolling really bad for the first half of the game, I tend to get more wary of his rolls later. I see it as they're using all they're bad rolls up, and that double six can't be far away. That's probably just me though

I do understand how the game works and if I really wanted to play that style I could. My rant on hypersononic was from a place of contemplation on said system. The game is always changing. I was offering my thoughts on future editions. I have never had a problem with bencrawler or hypersononic in general. My thoughts are it has been handed out to much and offered what I thought was a correction. I have no idea why my rant caused such venom when there is one like it every other day on the realms. Unless you believe my unique position and connections would actually have wizkids listening to me and I could actually change " the game you love". That I understand. It's true.

Never stopped making maps. LOL. I agree about reviews and thoughts and comments on new stuff and we will get to that. I wanted to give Gudda a chance to get this hypersonic bug that he had out. The funny thing is, we do something out of the ordinary or character for us for an episode or two and all of the sudden everything is "going down hill". Have faith, if not faith, trust the force, if that doesn't work, trust the good blaster at your side.
I would say look down my nose at the people who play the meta game would be pushing it to far. I do feel that if I make a heroclix team if I ever build a team based on what my opponent might bring I would be doing it wrong. We are going to have to agree to disagree. I think hypersonic has been handed out to easily. I think a good correction would be a break away fix. I doubt I will be spending much of the next cart talking about it. I probably will bring it up again. Might wait till the next PAC. As for the changing your game line it was a joke I am the funny one.

There is NO amount of "Stretch" that is going to tie down The Flash. What Mr. Fantastic brings to the table is his genius. The game already allows for his Outwitting of HSS. That works perfectly every time.

1 Hulk 1 Superman is kind of a given, isn't it. The thing lacking in Hulk is mobility. Superman compliments that. Also, we have lots of new players, this is the first major event that the new players are involved with. Those players likely have a ton more experience with Superman and Hulk figures.
The nice thing about the IG events is that each venue can do their own thing, too.
If you want comic accuracy, your venue could easily gear events toward that end.
FF looks like its going to be a killer team in the months to come.
X-men was very popular AND competitive when GSX was out.
Avengers... always very good.
Defenders will be drastically beefed up with GG coming out.
The HSS overuse by Game Design is a perfectly valid complaint... not that I necessarily disagree OR agree.
Like I said above, I'm commenting on the thread discussion since I haven't heard this clixcast yet.
Things I like about the cast: NEWS (rules changes, discussion of new figs, etc.), TIPS (how to beat the abundance of HSS for instance, i.e. Outwit or maybe Incap), and INSIGHT (interviews and opinion).
I haven't made it a practice to download and listen to these, just yet.
I don't carry around one those gizmos that everyone else seems to have.
Usually I catch them if I'm at the PC for an extended period, and lately I just haven't had spare time to catch up.
Wow, Hey Mattsolo. DECAF. I think you missed the whole point. IT'S a GAME. LOL. So I just hopped in to see if there's a 100th episode. I started reading some of the post's and Damn. People got ISSUES! Agree to disagree, move on... I think the whole point is and maybe I'm reading into it... D.C. is over powered! Thats what I got out of it and again playing in 5 different I.G.'s I have too agree. Point, look at the last review "Ronan" his attack value sucks. Go to his C.M. version and he has a 12, 8 years ago....Now its a 10??? I like the whole let's pick our poison idea but,(pulse wave or psychic blast) SUNBOY(D.C.) is only 79 points. I'll be damned if he doesn't have that same power and a wild card team ability????? Huh. D.C. is over powered. Although I will use Ronan, I will never use him at 150pts. NEVER.
