I read you, but the Surfer should never have 2 damage. I have a very open mind, but I am very disappointed with the latest trend of WK underpowering "big guns" having them be so close in dial strength to characters that in the comics wouldn't be in the same league. I have read comics for 35 years, and played heroclix since day one, and have a pretty good idea of what should be on the dials. If you want playable, up the point value of your games played, but don't underrepresent the characters to fit 4 powerhouses on a 400 point team.

@ JayThor- Hence the reason that you have 2 other versions of him in this set so that if one doesn't sit well with you you have other stellar choices to select from. Just cause he is not to what YOUR standard of what the piece should be, doesn't mean he is not comic acurrate. At many points of his life he had little to no power due to certain circumstances. And you say up the point values of games? Well unfortunately, some game formats don't allow for points to go beyond a certain number (like, say, 300pts booster sealed events) so getting a piece like this is actually a BENEFIT for you because it leaves so much more room for support or secondary attackers @ HellHoundsHowl- I agree with you, this one is definately meant to go with the Galactus herald trait. Now it could be just me, but the introduction of GF and FF packs is sort of just another way that WizKidz is kind of reverting to the old REV way of making pieces, with some pieces being more available than others, though they are the same piece. How many agree with me?
Its not a booster piece, so not in the mix for booster drafts. And while the alternate versions are better, the fact are that the Surfer is a cosmic beast. He is and always has been a match for any other hero in Marvel. His blasts should be able to damage an Invulnerable character.

@ JayThor- ahh yes I do stand corrected, he appears to be a GF piece. Still could be very good in 300pt Supremacy League matches though and other moderate point value games. And unfortunately, he is a consistantly strong character, he hasn't ALWAYS been able to defeat characters in the Marvel Universe. Case in point, he was easily defeated by Morg the first time they fought, which in turn prompted him to recruit former heralds of Galactus to stop him. He was tricked and had his powers stolen by Dr. Doom as well. and recently we cannot forget that he was subdued when he traveled through one of the portals of Sakaar and was fitted with an obedience disk. So yes I agree mthat he is one of the most consistantly powerful characters in Marvel, he has been bested on several occasions, whether outsmarted or overpowered.
Morg is a character who had powers that were boosted by Galactus to be stronger than the Surfer. The other instances you refer to are cases of Outwit. Thor has defeated him also, but we are talking omega-level powers to beat him. And he should always hurt a character with Invulnerability at the beginning of his dial.

I'm going to have to agree with Jaythor. The other surfers aren't much better, 236 points for a 10 AV, are you kidding me? How often does the surfer miss? I own a good deal of surfer issues and I"ll tell you: not often. This piece is actually the most playable due to the dial stats, which misrepresent him heavily.
@JayThor- You should also take into consideration that the PC TA greatly increases the point value of a character OR decreases the character's overall base power level. And if Morg had his power increased by Galactus for the sheer fact of being stronger than the Silver Surfer, how come it doesn't seem to me that Morg in this set doesn't live up to that potential (though that SP is pretty brutal in close quarters)? Sorry, but when it takes five former heralds of Glactus (Silver Surfer, Nova, Firelord, Terrax, and Airwalker) to beat one, you would think that Morg could be given more justice than he was in this set. And sorry, but Dr. Doom is not an "omega-level powered" character, but still got the better of Silver Surfer. Regardless, there is a Silver Surfer for everyone in this set to utilize given whatever situation they are participating in. And that 236 pt level surfer, what he lacks in Attack Value he more than makes up for with 2 TA, a terrific trait, and an SP that allows him to virtually hit anyone starting from across the other side of the map, LITERALLY! @Rekahedalb- You can't expect WK to do ALL your work for you can you? I'm sure that you are a gifted enough player to accomodate an average 10 Attack Value, especially if you can carry your own support pieces with you :). Just saying.
A. Morg is also underpowered, though not as bad as Surfer. I have the comic in question. Morg had powers that Galactus suped up.
B. Doom tricked him, not overpowered him. If you want to represent that- don't make him PC, so he can be Outwitted, but he should still do no less than 4 damage at the front of his dial and no less than 3 in the middle.

Well actually Morg also increased his own power by immersing himself in a mystic pool, at the dismay of Galactus (which is why it took 5 heralds to beat him). And not once did I say that Dr. Doom overpowered him, I said he got the better of him. Whether you use brains or brawn, if you get the better of someone, that's a V for you. and that two damage in the middle is pretty much gonna be two UNAVOIDABLE damage that ignores powers on most pieces if PW is used. Only at the end does he have true base damage 2, but he also has regen to get him back in the fight. Add the Galactus herald trait to him, and he actually looks pretty darn Amazing (which you can't use with the R 236 pt version or the FF piece at 200 pt). So you have to consider the pros and cons of all pieces and their designs. He may be weak in one person's hands, and a complete monster in another's. I'm more inclined to think the latter!
He has all of the requisite keywords, remains a mobile threat for most of the dial, and is hands down MUCH better than the 100 or 200 point Starter version, despite a minimal 49 point difference and lack of starting Impervious. I can say that this version is my favorite of all the Surfers made, to-date.
I love this Surfer. I think with the Power Cosmic TA and that hypersonic, with the right support this thing could be a beast. I've been wracking my brain all day thinking about Superman at 150 Versus the Surfer we see here. The match isn't hard to see though, supes would clean house, with better damage and that opening 11 attack. Still probably my biggest want from the GF and I pulled it.

Extremely playable. I'll never turn down a cheap heavy hitter with Power Cosmic, and this surfer is a nice alternative to the bigger point version in the main set.
He's straight forward, but can be a great swiss-knife piece. Need a carrier? Done. Need some cover fire laid down? Got it. Healer? Sure.
Toss in a click of regen on a willpowered figure? It's all good.
His sweet spot will be 500-600 point games, for sure.
