As always with a new set comes a new Rankings thread. Those of us that have done this regularly usually get into it and stick with it until a set gets spoiled. So now with Galactic Guardians pretty well exposed, it's great to have a new set to turn our eyes to. And as both a Batman fan, and a fan of the Nolan films, I am very excited to see what we have coming to us in this set.
With that, here are the rules we've been reviewing by:
Here we rank the figures in the upcoming set on a number of variables. We rank the figures on a scale of 1 to 10.
Here are the variables that I rank on:
1) Character Selection
2) Sculpt
3) Playability
4) Comic (or Movie) Accuracy
5) (in the case of a remake) How do they stack up to what came before
Trades: WITH WoL H/W, also looking for Mandarin Rings, DoFP Rares & Nimrod

001 The Dark Knight - I like some of the ideas that are being played around with on this Batman, but 1) he's too tough for Batman, even if he's representing a movie version of the character. He still mostly tangles with street villians, and 2) should he ever really have a full dial of Outwit? I don't hate this figure. In fact I'll probably enjoy playing it when I do, but it's "too good for Batman." And in the depowering of Marvel heroes, this Batman is a bit of a slap in the face to someone who's predominently a Marvel guy.
003 Bruce Wayne - For the most part I like this dial. It probably has too much Leap/Climb, and the trait is a bit much. However, I can at least see what the designer was going for with this dial. Plus you have to give the Alter Ego enough stuff going on to justify the expense for the figure he's going to change into. I also always like Alter Egos more when you have options as to what they shift into.
013 Alfred Pennyworth - For 21 points more than the beloved (by me anyway) Origins Chase figure. This version of Alfred feels similar but different, which bodes well. He doesn't completely nullify the old one, but he does still feel like the same character. Which his shotgun would have been treated more similarly to Dum Dum's from the Avengers Movie set, but even that is a minor complaint. This figure has everything I want to see from Alfred even if I do feel that the 17 Defend is a bit much. However, other than that, he doesn't feel nearly as overpowered as the 2 Batman figures, and he and Fox will make great teammates!
023 Henri Ducard - What can I say? It's a solid dial for movie Ra's al Ghul. It's got all the powers that I'd expect, and it looks fun. The sculpt looks awesome!
026 Lucius Fox - Lucius is a character I'm glad to see get clixed. I'm looking forward to trying him out. That managed to make him functional without making him too ridiculous. Although so would argue that he's just bringing more relatively cheap Perplex and Outwit to the game. Unless he's teamed with Alfred (which I expect I'd always do) he's going to be relatively easy to pin down and remove as a threat.
029 The Batman - Funny how for more points, this one seems like the more reasonable of the 2 Batman figures. I would like to see the Glider Cape trait restricted to moving from a higher elevation to a lower one, but other than that, the rest of this version seems a bit more reasonable than his cheaper companion.

Just a quick point to make before I start this time around................the INV (you all know what I'm talking about) seems a bit out of place for a character that has trouble with a few dogs................unless those dogs are terrifying in clix terms. So I will not harp on this until we see the dogs and they don't help this or the dogs don't show up.
But enough of that..............new clix to look at!

I like the way this dial plays out. I like both SPs and I think the versitility of his Sonar Surveillance I think will serve him well and start to get people out of the notion that you need to be 10 away to Outwit.........you can be closer, the rules are OK with it, I promise. While the point total for this guy is a little on the high side for what I'm confortable with for a Batman...........I do really like the option that this gives to alot of Clix-fans who were not able to get a hold of the AA Lamp-post version.
003 Bruce Wayne9
First off, no, I don't think this is a '9' rank dial. It is a good dial but it gets a bump for taking the AE figs and continuing and expanding on them actually being usable figs in their own right. I am happy to see that as I feel AEs are going to be around for a while. Very happy to see WK putting extra effort to make the AEs much better. Thank you WK!

First off.........dial is very nice for the cost as a team leader type and the sculpt looks outstanding. But if either of those things weren't there this guy would stil get a very nice rating from me. For those people who didn't pay attention of Halo-Clix or see it at all you probably haven't seen much of it mentioned. Well I will be happy to break theme to get this for my WC (and I don't typically use many TAs for my WC) but increased team mobility is not something I'm going to over look............maybe I can find an Underworld TAed fig to use as Victoria Hand for my New Avengers. So happy to see this show up! The fact that Liam Neeson is the one showing this awesomeness to me is great.
Edit: Been corrected on the TA, it of course first showed up in the Watchmen set but being in this release will make it much more accessable.
029 The Batman7
140 pts?!? .....
Ok.......there is alot going on in this dial and I do like the perma flight ability and perma charge which is obviously contributing to the point cost issue. I think he's decent and should be able to pull his point cost on the board. But dang that point cost is irksome.

It is almost upon us! Are you prepared for the Quarmageddon?
It's a continuation of what I said in the ranking of 001 The Dark Knight.
Edit: I'll edit in the longer answer here, as I'm trying not to waste the first page of a Ranking Thread.
I have a point range that I'm comforable with for some characters.........Batman is one of them. I was put off a bit in AA with a 120 pt comic Batman who can beat Kryptonians and Darkseid level characters and call it a Tuesday. I understand that point cost doen't mean how tough they are, powers have costs and some are more expensive that others..........Batman has a habit of having a ferw of them.
But this isn't 'Comic Batman' this is 'movie Batman' if a Kryptonian or a Darkseid level character showed up he wouldn't even be an annoyance. That's why it's irksome to me.
Feel free to disagree with me if you like.
But please don't waste anymore of this Ranking Thread's first page, it would be very much appreciated.

Still doesn't answer my question. Why does it bother you?
Edit: Fair enough. My argument was that point value doesn't measure how powerful a character is, since there has been a lot of that floating around. Sorry to crowd out the front page of the thread. This was not my intention.

The Dark Knight: At 120 points (or something like that? Don't have the fig in front of me... too lazy to look up... moving on) this guy makes up almost half of your 300 point force. Luckily, he does a pretty good job at keeping up. Decent (albeit unwarranted) damage reducers keep him alive. A full dial of stealth keeps him safe. Perplex and outwit in all the right ways; this guy is brutal. What would make me hesitant to play him would be his point cost versus his lack of mobility. He has to deal with hindering terrain on movement, and since he'll want to be in it a lot, he's going to have a hard time getting across the board. Still, this figure looks really cool, and really fun to play.
Bruce Wayne: A nice look at what an Alter Ego piece could be, Bruce Wayne is bound to be on several competitive teams from now on. What I don't like about this Piece: the special power makes no sense. In no way should a guy WITHOUT his gadgets be able to cause damage to those who use outwit. The 18 def with defend doesn't even make sense; this was first introduced with invisible woman, and was used to illustrate her barriers. Batman could maybe protect one person, but a whole bunch? Eh... Still this figure is cool, and although a little overpowered for how I think Bruce Wayne should be, he is a piece that's definitely going to see a lot of attention.
Henri Ducard: This piece has a lot of options. Stealth? Check. Leap/Climb for mobility? Check. Outwit? Check. Top that off with the ability to carry his fodder (assumably there are more in the set) and defense powers out the bum hole and you've got yourself a decent piece. His lack of range makes him less playable, and since he's not likely to be the highest point figure on your team, he may end up doing little on your team. Still, Leap/Climb and Indomitable makes him a threat, and as long as he has friends to drop the damage to, he could last a long time.
The Batman: This guy is nuts. Straight up balls. I love it. Full dial charge w/ flight? Is it over powered? Nah, considering you're paying 140 for this guy. A lot of outwit backed up with stealth really makes him mean. The advantage this guy has over The Dark Knight is that he is actually very mobile. He can break away all day and has flight to maneuver his charge over the roof-tops. But he's not so broken as to be able to break away charge without rolling for it. He's got a spectacular dial that is balanced and fun. I don't even care that he has invulnerability. Don't even care. He's too cool!
