The fig I pulled has the Surfer sculpt and dial, but the name on it is "Doctor Strange", the point value is 75 and it only has one lightning bolt. Plus, it came with no card in the box.

Oh, yeah, it has the Power Cosmic team symbol.

Dormammu has found a great piece to empower as his minion. 11 movement, 11 attack, 18 defense, and 4 damage WITH the Power Cosmic. I certainly would not complain about his stats then...

Play him as Galactus Herald.. give him Invulnerability on those Defend Clicks and let him pulse wave your enemies..

He's one critical miss away from getting smacked by Wyatt Wingfoot.

I've played this guy twice on Defenders teams and he's been my MVP both times. wiped up the floor in both games. he's a nice cheap Surfer for the Defenders (which have been one of my favorite teams since grade school).

not if you plan to play him as herald. the pc on this piece becomes redundant.

dropping pc in favor of defenders ta and stat boosts would be better for both heralded and unheralded play.

Well, it's official. This figure is totally no longer fit for any sort of competitive play. He was crushed by longshot. A single longshot. And I was rolling consistent 7/8s but he was in hindering so he had a 19. He rolled poorly a few times in the beginning , 4s and 5s. So you'd think I'd have the advantage, but no. With 11 attack being essentially ubiquitous these days, and my paltry 17 defense, he eventually put me on my pulse click. Unfortunately I was out of pulse wave range, and miss another normal attack even though I rolled more 8s. He took me out 2 turns later, pushing to do so. Longshot is 75 points. Even if I had hit him, he would have prob it. It's not just the luck though, this figure is truly terrible for 149 points. He is worth about 120 points by todays standards, and is 1.5 years old. And it's not power levels rising, because other figs in this set are great still. He just sucks, and is overcosted and underpowered. People saying that perplex is the answer don't realize that for his point cost, perplex would only bring him to where he should be at, wasting extra points on a perplexer. I have yet to find a surfer that can take down a whole team, and will continue to wait. Btw, I've read almost every issue of the 80s-90s silver surfer series and plenty of other material with him. It's ok creating powerhouses at lower point values but at least make them character accurate. For the points, he sucks and is not character accurate. With 200 point Cap, I'm waiting for a 400 point Surfer and Supes.

Those clicks of Defend are just awful. Ping him for 1 or 2 and then bring in the heavy hitters to finish him off. If you can get him from Defend to Regen you're laughing.

Yuck. If I were to make a list of characters who should always have traited Invulnerability. Silver Surfer would be right near the top. It would jack up his cost, but I'm more than willing to pay 250+ for a Silver Surfer. (or make him 244 so he can bring GotG Mantis along in a 300 point game)

looking at we can get for ~240 pts with guys like prime warmachine, there's no reason we can't expect a surfer to be at least that efficient.

but the mantis idea is effective AND thematic. best surfer love interest, imo. (shalla bal is a beezy)
