Ok I loved Ostrander's Suicide Squad and was heartbroken when it ended. At the end of the series, Amanda was going to run for the government of the country the helped free from "Task Force X". So what happened next?

I know she headed up the Eclipso Task Force in the Eclipso series, but don't really know the details.

I know she eventually ended up back with the U.S. Gov't heading up a new Suicide Squad (seen in Superboy and the Hawk and Dove Mini).

Now, here's where I fall out of step.

Apparently she and "Sgt. Rock" started up a new Squad in Giffen's relaunch of the title (I didn't pick it up for fear of what Giffen would do to the title, he just doesn't appeal to me). I don't know if she was in charge of Rock or he was in charge of her. I know at the end of the series there's doubt cast as to whether it was the real Sgt. Rock or not.

After that she shows up in Luthor's cabinet, and butts heads with Superman a lot. I don't get this part. Amanda was ruthless but always to serve the greater good. Is she willingly working for Luthor (I know she worked for much more evil presidents.. Regan, Bush, etc. - j/k )? Every appearance I've seen seems to suggest she's more of a Villain now, actively participating in Luthor's corruption. Also, how did a convicted murderer ever get confirmed by Senate as a Cabinet Member (That must be a story in itself).

Anyway, if anyone can flesh out/explain some of Amanda's recent history and motivations I'd be all for it.
