First up today, continuing from the 3 creatures we looked at last time, the Corrupted Warrior of the Quay's (cost 3/glory 2) ability will also be bringing out Corrupted Quiddity from the Wilds and into your opponents dice pools. All he has to do is score and you can choose an opponent to give it to. The choice, as you will see later on, is actually very important depending on what creatures are out and about. So again a solid benefit but nothing earth shattering. Sometimes it's nice to just he whelmed.
Next up we take a look at the first of two creature who will start to reap the benefits of your opponents having Corrupted Quiddity, the Corrupted Scavenging Goblin (Cost 2/glory 2). When you are attacking an opponent with one or more corrupted quiddity in their used pile you gain a +2 attack against them. Another good perk.
The second creature that really benefits from your opponents having corrupted quiddity is the Corrupted Ghostly Spirit (cost 4/ glory 3). This is the first creature, outside of the promo 'Quaxos' creatures, to feature a form of immunity............if an opponent rolled a corrupted quiddtiy die this turn your Corrupted Ghostly Spirit can not be damaged by them this turn. Not from spells/special abilities or regular attacks. But not just that, when you are attacked by that opponent you can still use the ghosts defence to help protect your other creatures with no chance of destroying the ghost. A really good ability and if you can manage to get some corrupted quiddity out and about it is very likely to come up.
Next up we are going to take a look at two creatures that don't have anything to do with corrupted quiddity.
The first is Corrupted Death Dealer, who's cost of 3 and glory of 4 makes it a benchmark creature in Quarriors. Prior to him the only creatures that had a printed glory of 4 were in the 8-9 cost range (there is one version of the Questing Wizard that can do that with a burst ability for 7 though). He cost less than half of that and don't forget that the Death Dealer die is almost on par with the Witching Hag for strength, which is nothing to scoff at. To good to be true right? Well..............that's where his special ability comes in, sadly, when any opponent readies a spell die Death Dealer is destroyed. That is quite the drawback.......but for the point cost and glory he is worth it, it's game balance that makes it necessary to have a limitation. And since he is so much glory he is actually worth the effort to score with........and here is one of the best tips to help him live. When you do roll him, see how many spells have been purchased and how many are already readied.....if all of the captured spells are accounted for you won't have to worry (most of the time) about a spell coming up in your opponents draw. Definitely a creature that needs a bit of timing and attention but very much well worth the effort if you're willing to give him a try. (Keep this creature in mind when Quarmageddon hits.........he might be very important!)
The second creature that doesn't really have a connection to the corrupted quiddity is the Corrupted Devotee of the Holy Query (cost 3/ glory 2). Remember that he (the goblin being the other) is one of only 2 creatures in the game currently (but at least 1 more will be showing up in Quarrmagedon!) that has 4 creature sides, so you will probably count on him rolling a creature side more often then not. When he scores not only do you get to cull die 1 for scoring him you get to cull an additional die......if the burst ability is active as well you can cull 3 dice for scoring this one creature. While not directly linked to corrupted quiddity this creature is an excellent way to get rid of all of those unwanted 'gifts' people might be handing out.
The final two creatures actually benefit from having corrupted quiddity in their dice pools......and of course it would be the Corrupted Primordial Ooze that is one of them.
The first thing you have to understand about the Ooze is that anyone who captures an ooze has no soul........and is a horrible, horrible person.
Second, if you've come to terms with your lack of soul......and being a horrible, horrible person...........this version of the ooze isn't that bad at all. This ooze's Att/Def is based on how many corrupted quiddity are still in the wilds (to a maximum of 5)........so for the most part you should be able to count on him having 3 sides that are all 5/5 creatures which is quite strong. But that's not all, you also score +1 glory for each corrupted quiddity die in your used pile, which should make sure your opponents think twice about giving you any........but that's not all. When you score with him you also gain a corrupted quiddity from the wilds, after you've culled this turn........not that you'd want to get rid of it anyway for the most part. So you will have to find a balance for the corrupted quiddity being in your dice pool and in the wilds.
I say you will have to find that balance as I don't capture oozes as I have a soul and am not a horrible, horrible person. Anyone who tells you different clearly has no soul and is a horrible, horrible person who is clearly lying.
The last of the corrupted creatures is another of the most talked about creatures from the base game, the Defender of the pale. The Corrupted Defender of the Pale (cost 6/glory 2) actually gains 2 benefits from corrupted quiddity, the first is that anytime you gain a corrupted quiddity die while he is in your ready area you score 1 glory. So your opponents will really benefit from being able to choose who get corrupted quiddity and you can make them pay for not having the choice. The second benefit is that when you summon him you gain +1 quiddity for each corrupted quiddity die in your active and used piles. This is probably the weakest versions of the Defender of the Pale as most of the ways to gain corrupted quiddity is either from your opponents choice and/or a penalty for destroying opposing creatures are not likely to occur. He's not bad, but certainly not great unless under ideal circumstances.
