Phasing is used on movement only and in no way affects his, or the guy he's carryings, defense. Sorry. But you can carry Wolverine while phasing through a wall.

Phasing DOES add to defense, but only against a capture attempt from Sinestro or a Sentinel.

Ah... you're right. +2 for plasticity and phasing. But as to his original question, GL goes not add to his DV when B2B with Batman just because he says he is phasing.
