One advantage I would give to 2012 is that they know have a much greater comittment to be on the team than they did in '92. It means they play together more than the '92 team did prior to their olympic run.
Likewise though that makes what '92 did that much more spectacular because even though you had some regular team mates this guys didn't play much international basketball together prior to the olympic games.
yeah and with the centers and forwards on the '92 team I can almost guarantee you that Lebron, Blake and Kobe aren't getting to the rim like they are accustomed to now.
Defense in today's league is almost non-existant compared to the NBA of 20 years ago. People have focused so much on scoring now that they have neglicted playing great defense with some notable exceptions of course.
One of the things I should have mentioned in my first post is coaching. Chuck Daly Vs Mike Shushevsky. Daly made winners out of the NJ Nets when he was their head coach and Mike K may be the best college coach ever.
Still, I look at this as the 92 team taking away the small team ball from 2012. They are too strong up front and filtering those smaller players to the big men is going to be disastrous.
Another thing, nobody steps up to the plate like Jordan. If he saw the challenge of it being him and Kobe, Kobe loses. MJ would set his sites on shutting him down and while he could do that, Kobe could never do it to Michael.
yeah the coaching situation is virtually a dead heat. i might give the nod to Coach K though just because I think he is most Ideally suited to coach international basketball. I feel the international game plays a bit more like college and when people play for their country its less about ego and more about pride.
Now Im not saying there wouldn't be some ego on teams full of superstars but the players playing in the olympics all want to play for and win for their country. They aren't there for the money.
Another reason why 1992 would be better is that they can spread the floor and open it even more. Ewing had a deadly 15-17 foot fade-away jumper that made it hard for opposing big men to lay off him from that distance. That opened up the cutting lanes and the post for other players to bring smaller ones in. Can you imagine Magic or Stockton getting the ball from Ewing and playing the pick and roll with Karl Malone in that situation? It wouldn't be pretty.
Except for a few guys on 2012, defense isn't in their vocabulary and Blake Griffin would be dominated in the paint by both Malone and Barkley.
Yeah they could beat them I mean you could take the 97 Clippers and they COULD beat the Dream....I mean you play a 1000 games and they might get 1 or 2
As to who would likely Dream team. Sure they say the game changed...well thats becasue the likes of Jordan, Burd and Magic arent around anymore.
And as to being too old....Well half this team played for a number of years after the game and I saw no slow down in them
NO SANTA LEFT BEHIND
Not Just Another Empty Political Slogan
yeah and 2k12 doesn't have the dream team on it.
However how cool would it be to have a dream team option on it since they are doing classic players on the game.
You could have the classic dream team and an olympic championship mode.
