For some reason, I was extra sadden by the loss today. For the past few days I've been going on as normal, and then I saw his avatar ... and it made me sad. You will be missed.
Typhon, maybe one day, if it's not too hard (emotionally or programming-wise),
you could make up a permanent page with the members we have lost, maybe just their avatar, user name, real name, and years of life. Maybe their favorite Heroclix piece or character if known?
It could be like the HCRealms Hall of Remembrance.
I'm always reminded about the guy who passed away a while back, but for the life of me, I can't remember his user name.
His avatar was the "Watch out, Hot Dog" one, it was so great!
He also seemed like a great guy, and it's too bad that we can't get to know EVERYONE on HCRealms personally.

I've been thinking about doing just that. It's not programatically hard; I just need a good way to preserve the account and put it in a different state (no PMs, etc.).

Yes, thanks guys, I think it was freakazoid_x. Watch out, Hot Dog!!!
Also, Typhon, if nothing else you could just make a static page that can't be modified by anyone or anything like that. Just the name and avatar and whatever.
Then you could link to the page from where it's most appropriate.
I think something like that would be a nice thing to do, so I'm glad you have been thinking about it.

I just found out the news after seeing zero's icon in W.I.T.'s signature. I'm deeply saddened by this as I considered him a good friend here on the realms. We spoke often, traded a few times, and I've never seen a bad word said about the man. May he rest peacefully and roll nothing but boxcars in heaven.

My sympathies to friends and families affected.
My dad passed away recently due to long term diabetic complications.
I appreciated the post describing how diabetes really complicates things.
I also approve of the Hall of Remembrance concept.
Having been on hiatus for almost a year, I was surprised and saddened to read about James' passing. I did not know him personally, but his presence was well known on the realms.

If you decide to take on this kind of a project, please remember Pete Newman who passed away several years ago. I don't remember his screen name here, but he was a great supporter of the game, very creative and fun. He was good friends with Nbperp who would likely remember his screen name.
His luck was so bad that missing a roll by one (needing a 6 and rolling a 5) was rewarded by "Pete Points" at some venues in Maryland.
Great sense of humor, generous, and always brought a fun & unusual team. Still missed by many of the "old guard" in Maryland Heroclix community.

Pete Newman was Eboladude, I believe.

Rest in peace, Zero- one of the classiest, most intelligent, humblest people I have ever had the privilege of engaging with. Thoughts and prayers to your family my friend.
Wow! I've been gone for about 8 months and come back to find this?
I didn't know the man personally, but spent many years reading posts and engaging in similar conversations. With heavy heart I say a very belated R.I.P James. My thoughts and prayers to your family, friends, and your Aussie gaming family.
