View Poll Results: What is more Important, winning or fun?
I voted fun, and outside of the initial dissapointment when I lose, I do not get angry, so long as the game was fair. I will not play at venues where the scenario is disclosed ahead of time, or there is not full disclosure when it comes to assignment of things to players in scenarios, or where people can change teams after seeing others. I also will not play with people who cheat using loaded dice; or do not click their dial as many times as they were supposed to, or do not put an action token on their figures when they are supposed to, in hopes you do not catch it, or does not show you the Guantlet when telling you what Power is showing, etc.
When playing, the most important thing about Heroclix is fun and thematic matchups, and not playing against jerks.
As far as Heroclix overall, the most important thing for me is collecting characters and miniature sculpts of my favorite comic book, movie, or other characters.
I play Heroclix because I COLLECT Heroclix. I don't collect Heroclix because I play Heroclix.
Does that make sense?

It's always about having fun. Anyone can make an OP team and at the end of the day, you're the head douche. Congrats. I only play teams of theme and characters I know and love. Fun all the way.
Last time I was just playing I had a GLA team with Doorman, Mr. Immortal, Squirrel Girl and Hawkeye: full Gauntlet on Squirrel Girl. I lost some, I won some, it was huge fun. The two best moments of the night was when Mr. Immortal crit hit on Dormammu, who then (of course) made his Super Senses roll, and when Squirrel Girl attained Ultimate Godhood and chose Pulse Wave to attack an adjacent Chase Loki for 4!
I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.

I usually play fun teams allong the lines of people with blue capes or silly things like that and 8/10 times get my @#$ handed to me but as long as its not against meta teams designed to win in one turn I always have fun because it about the people playing with away much or more than the game itself
For me personally it's fun & that's partly why I've resigned to home games. That said I've come to respect "the other side" much more since I resigned tournament play.
I personally play both sides these days so I always win & loose equally so it pretty much has to be about a fun process for me because I don't even play in a way that it could be about wins & loses.
I do like close games.
Rewatching Survivor I ran across a statement I like reguarding this:
Julie from Vanuatu basically said: You only know where your own line is, you never truly know someone else’s.
To this I say how true and because so many people draw the line at different spots & expect others to follow that is why you have so much friction (hence how often there are hard feelings at the end). Guess that’s why someone impartial like wizkids/the event judge needs to set up the rules. It’s not like players are likely to come to a mutual agreement. That’s hard enough for a group of friends at their house let alone an event open to the public.
In a way you almost need to assume that people only draw their personal lines at what the rules allow and if you’re not okay with that, you may not want to play the game in a public format.
A close battle with a player that is on the same level and that you come away a smarter player.(THIS IS WHAT'S BEST IN LIFE CONAN)I've played people who wanted to win so bad they stalled, coached, cheated(with dice you couldn't tell want it was)or changed teams at the last minute(after seeing everyones team)WIZKIDS should make stores have demos once a monthor no prizes!Even players with better game playing will keep people in this game longer!
I think the real divide between players isn't necessarily competitive vs. fun; it's more that we (fun players) want the competitive players to know that we can just as easily make cheese teams but choose not to for the sake of fun.

Makes perfect sense to me. I started out getting a few as pawns for another game. Once I decided to learn to play the game, I started wanting all the clix I needed to play certain teams. I think my collecting is more driven by my desire to be able to play all the teams I can but I do have them on display as well (no tackle boxes in the closest here).
So I guess I collect mostly because I play but I do like how little space they take up in order to display massive amounts of different characters as well.
I think I would have a harder time justifying the extend of my purchases if I didn't play the game myself but I've never been much of a collector of anything. I've always like video games, board games, & such.
Theme vs. appropriate them battles like X-men vs. Brotherhood do tend to be my favoites.
I wish I could PLAY a game. I haven't played in a tournament since WoS was released and I used the X-Force pieces from that set against the U-Foes. That was a fun game and I won,by the hair of my teeth. Coincidentally, that was also the last time I played any Heroclix game.
I've collected stuff just in case and now it's about to pay off as tournaments in my area are starting again after a 2-year absence. Of course, I'm judging again..but in time I hope to have a sub or replacement so that I can play. I am also teaching my nephews to play.
That being said, I play for fun with the hopes that I can pull off a few wins along the way. I don't play cheese and only play comic-accurate teams anymore. I find playing those teams to be more fun than even winning-provided that I am playing with people who make playing fun.
