The tale of Booster Gold and Blue Beetle is a pretty classic "best buds" story, you don't see friendship actually played out with that sort of meaning in comics too much.
I really enjoyed how that friendship continued to be expressed even after Ted's death. Johns, Giffen and Jurgens each found great ways for Booster to honor and reflect on Ted.
So, not really knowing much about DC, even though I try to understand all of their universe splitting/restarting/restarting again stuff. I even had a few subs of some of their books a few years ago, but I still think most of their characters are not accessible.
Can someone explain to me why everyone loves Booster Gold so much? I tried to read up on him but I just can't understand it.
I would appreciate some clarity here.
Speaking personally, I'm a sucker for characters that are trying to actively better themselves despite everyone basically giving up on them. Booster Gold saw a lot of growth as a character, especially within the original "52," which is still my favorite example of a maxi-series. The Giffen/DeMatteis run on JLI made him and Ted a genuinely memorable duo, best buds in life and death.
Honestly, without Booster Gold, there's not much keeping me in the New 52.
Well, I guess I have trouble getting into DC. I don't think it's as accessible as Marvel. I just want to get into it so I can enjoy DC heroclix as much as I do Marvel. But a lot of whats holding me back is the characters, some of the names (Anything with lad in it puts me off), and all of the universe tracking. I can't keep track of KC, E-1, E-2 or what universe is what and whose superman belongs to who.
But booster gold seems interesting and as everyone is raving about him, I hope I get him with my case of Batman. (Although most of the set is a meh so far).

If the universe hopping element of the DCU is not to your liking then I'd recomend against Booster Gold's most recent solo series. That book is very heavy on the history of the DCU.
Few books I'd recommend are "Formerly Known as Justice League", "I Can't Believe it's not Justice League" and the Giffen DeMathis run on Justice League International. Featuring a very off beat Justice League that is very different in style than the Iconic Seven Leaguers.
That was the example of Booster past. For examples of how he has evolved into a mature character then I'd recommend "Justice League: Generation Lost"

I agree on all counts. The two "Formerly Known As.." books and JL Gen Lost are a good "then and now" look that would be easy to get into.
Finally... 20 odd sets after Booster Gold's singular appearance (Origins) and he's a Super Rare? for fricks sake. this kinda sucks when Blue Beetle (his best bud) is a fricking common? bad move necca.
