Parasite is borderline overcosted, but I don't think he's actually overcosted. I've never seen him not be worth his points, but he's pretty slow and starts with short range, so he has the potential to get messed up from range before he can start wreaking havoc. The design is honestly really simple, too. No need for the complicated mess that was the Justice League one.
Depending on what type of game set your playing under, there are MANY ways to prevent parasite from being shot to death by cheap point and clickers. MERC HIM UP! The mercenary feat will allow parasite to have stealth through batman ally TA. Since he doesn't have a "'team symbol' Im pretty sure he qualifies. Now if your playing a game that forbids feats, barrier, giants, TK....etc. he starts with a very high defense on his first two clicks at 18, find a double perplexer and give him a 20 defense before you charge him out there......
I know this game is haunted by modern day ranged power houses. Its hard to squeeze any strategy in a game with all that long range shooting going on. But I've noticed that alot of players underestimate the effectiveness of a good tie up character. Ragdoll, plasmas, Kobra....heck Ace from the royal flush gang is a wild card (give him stealth) and a GIANT, if you run him up to a close together team you just tied up at least 5 range attackers....and they can't retaliate until they roll to break through the giant reach! All this for 66 points man...I've noticed whizkids throwing us a bone every now and then.
