Earthbound/Neutralized New 2012 PAC Wording Question
Noticed a slight change in the wording of Earthbound/Neutralized.

The removal of the red text brings up a question. If a character with E/N gains a combat ability or symbol from another source (figure, object, etc), can it now use that ability or symbol?
Black Panther of the Vegas Illuminati
Ghost Austin 3:16
Yes, they can use them. Characters like Cable/Deadpool that get a combat ability from a trait and a special power can still use the ones granted by the trait or SP. St. Walker can still give friendly E/B characters Sharpshooter, ect.
Aside from Superman and the Flash (who aren't really relevant anyway), I don't think there is a single Duo that would be able to effectively use Merge even if they aquired Earthbound somehow.
Yup, but if character X, which is not a duo, was played with the old rules and gain earthbound with the old text (the one saying he cannot use combat ability) he wouldn't be able to use Merge since it is a combat ability. Removing that part of Earthbound prevent that from happening.
You know everyone loves to be the villain. Hugh Grant
I see. So they had to remove the text so an E/N character would be able to use the Merge combat ability. Which is associated with the the E/N fig now possesses.
The side effect of that change is they would be able to use other combat abilities if gained from some other source.
Thanks for the input guys.

I'm new to the game and this power confuses me, my dyslexia student help with it too, don't get the benefit of not bring able to use any our your powers.

Another thing that is affected by the wording are the Improved Movement and Improved Targeting abilities. Since those are both combat abilities, under the old wording, a character that gained Earthbound wouldn't be able to use those. Since those are a part of many other powers now, getting Earthbound would screw all those up if the wording hadn't changed.

That's what it means. To use your examples, with Earthbound/Neutralized your would become , becomes and becomes .
I should point out, though, that just because you lose the Sharpshooter symbol () that doesn't mean that you wouldn't be able to use the Sharpshooter ability (which the symbol grants you) if you somehow gained use of the ability otherwise, such as being adjacent to Saint Walker. The same goes for the Indomitable symbol and the Indomitable ability.
