Wow... I just don't see it. I don't see anything useful. The serum power might get used, but I'd be hurting my own character so it had better be because I need to charge and swing with an object to KO a threat. Too costly too. Oh well. I hope the sculpt is cool.
Hugo Strange is made to sit in the back, and pull strings to get things done. I like the idea of making a freak outta the person next to you and making them charge in and kill the intruder for you. I definitely see this being a piece I will use.
IMHO, the Monster Men serum is where it's at with Hugo. Bat-enemies, Gotham Underworld, and Arkham Asylum teams have relatively few sources of Super Strength, and Hugo can not only grant that power, but Charge as well for extra mobility. I look forward to using him with DKR's Arkham Inmates and Escapees, which also have access to Flurry and/or BCF. On the Gotham Underworld side, Falcone Bodyguards will be nasty with their unusually decent starting 10 AV and Combat Reflexes. To make it even better, the Serum is a Free action. I just wish Hugo had a few clicks of Mastermind in there somewhere to keep his 89 point self alive a little longer. Regardless, I'm excited to use him, as he is one of those great niche Batman characters who has yet to be seen in Clix form.
A must have for me, from this set (along with Beast Boys and WildC.A.T.s). While Birds of Prey is everyone's darling, I am itching for an Arkham Asylum action - with Hugo Strange and a horde of Inmates and Escapees from DKR.
I would have absolutely loved some Bruce Wayne Alter-Ego thwarting special power (screwing with Batman in his secret identity is kind of a motif for Hugo, for those of you who haven't read much of him in the comics). But lacking that, his "I Know You As Myself" Trait is still very cool and is at least a nod in that direction.
At first I thought the "within 4 squares" was too short a range, but upon reflection - and recognizing that the trait hurts your own characters too, not just opposing ones - it seems right.
Even with the serum special power, I'd love to see some Monster Men minion clix!

Hello Bruce Banner with gauntlet and Hugo. 2 unavoidable end of first turn. Insane Hulk turn 2. Throw in Libra for a re-roll (that's not prob) and Mastermind all damage onto hulk. Hugo to block outwit. INSANE!
Monster men serum is definitley going to be fun to use, but I feel like I need more than that for the points he is and the rest of his dial just doesn't do it for me.
I am really happy that they are finally making this guy. I love this entire set so far. I really like the Monster Man Serum. I think he will be perfect on Batman enemy teams.
Hugo is a piece that has to be built around to get the full kick out of him, so he's not going to be a first choice for sealed. But Hugo and a couple Hired Goons can be fun respawning monster men. He suffers from the point cost inflation they've been giving to outwit plexers lately. He's going to be relegated to casual and fun games.
I've been waiting YEARS for Hugo Strange. I despise this guy, which is one reason I think he's a good Batman villain. His SP seems pretty comic-accurate, as do his numbers. I think a bit lower cost or more "umph" to his Trait would make him more fun to play for most people, but I honestly see him as a nice asset to a Batman Enemies team. Maybe higher points are required to make him work better...but maybe not. Monster-Men serum on a hired goon or some other lackey? Might turn a low-point game around all of a sudden.
