Even though we are on the cusp of a handful of NEW JLI members, I will be running a theme (keyword required) team pretty soon and wanted to get some insight from some of the other members.
Here is the quick team I threw together the other day, let me know what you think, substitutions, feats, etc.
BT-052 Booster Gold (98)
BB-036 Martian Manhunter (202)
CR-030 Blue Beetle (65)
JL-001 Batman (75)
BT-035 Rocket Red (102)
75-039 Guy Gardner (110)
BB-054 Mister Miracle & Oberon (115)
SM-042 Lobo (169)
75-007 Ice (47)
Life Model Decoy (12) on MM&O
1,000 points, what do you think? My other JLI options that I have the new August General in Iron, Godiva, Fire & Ice dual, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, the detective AE J'onn J'onzz, and I think the JL set Black Canary.
Awesome team, Bill. JLI is one of my favorites. I assume you don't have the Bug? You didn't list it in your available options. I played around on the Units section, and came up with this, also at 1000 points, Golden Age. Not better than your team, but some other options. Not sure if you have everything needed to put this together, though, so... just for fun.
Batman BM001 200
Booster Gold BM 052 98
John Jones D10A 003 90
Lobo SM042 169
Guy Gardner AN039 110
Fire and Ice BB050 131
Armor Piercing 10
Blue Beetle D10A016 55
Armor Piercing 10
Blue Lantern BBS005 5
Orange Lantern BBS002 5
Total = 985
The Orange Lantern extends Fire and Ice's Poison and SP Poison Barrier to two squares away, rather than adjacent, and the Blue Lantern extends their range by 2, so the Poison Barrier will extend further.
The Armor Piercing on Fire and Ice means the Poison always goes through, or that their duo attack will always breach Impervious and Invulnerable. The second Armor Piercing on Blue Beetle is for that triple attack Energy Explosion.
Batman at 200 points is expensive, but with the right map worth every point to give this team Batman TA. If you don't want to use him, though, you can substitute JL001 Batman and BB054 Mister Miracle for 10 points less. Both are excellent clix and work well with this team, but the Stealth for everyone, longer dial on Batman and higher combat stats overall on the new Batman are worth the trade-off, in my opinion.
The new August General in Iron is fantastic, and you really should ensure to include him on your JLI builds.
Also, while OotS Bats is just insane for his points, the new 200 point Batman is just better. He is 10 clix of pain hard to hit and as a bonus pretzel he grants Stealth to your entire team.
BT-052 Booster Gold (98)
CR-030 Blue Beetle (65)
BT-001 Batman (200)
75-039 Guy Gardner (110)
SM-042 Lobo (169)
BT - Godiva (43)
10 - John Jones (90)
75 - Ice (47)
That keeps it as a theme team and allows 36 points for Feats/Utility Belt/Gauntlet/Special Objects

I have to agree with others about fitting on the 200 point Batman. I loved him when I played him, and giving Stealth to everyone under his cost is pretty awesome.
Logan:I'm an X-Man and on 2 Avengers teams.
Mockingbird:How the hell do you do that?
Logan: Multitasking. Its my mutant power. Dont tell anyone.
I recently ran a JLI 600 modern team to great effect.
The Bug (Piloted)
10th Blue Beetle (the promotable one)
10th John Jones (the promoatable one)
Rocket Red
Lobo (with Utility Belt)
JLI ATA on all. Using the bug as mobile covering terrain, as well as a competent attacker. In the few games I've ran, Lobo has been a monster, at one point using the Suit of Sorrows to pick up a Foom Finger and slam an outwitted Kang for 9 damage, all while blocked from danger by The Bug.
Superbuddy:
That's a great combo with the 10th Blue Beetle and Armor Piercing, I might just consider putting him on there with that combination.. though I do like the Perplex/Outwit option Kord brings to the table when he's next to Booster.
Two reasons I was favoring the 75 point Bats over the 200 point Bats. One is point wise and not sinking one fifth of the build total into a piece that has toughness at most. Two is outwit, with more pieces.. more use to take away the enemy's powers to soften up or mess with their strategy.
I have used the 200 point Batman before, copying the Bats Ally TA to all my underlings.. I beat the hell out of the new 52 JLA.
@Dragon:
As said above, I'm not really looking to power stack up on pieces.
@Carbon:
BatB duo?
@Eyepawd:
I WISH I had a bug. :/ Our play group throws in for bricks and we got two batmobiles, two cop cars, and two tanks.. the bricks were identical. So if anyone has an extra bug, there's always a batmobile to be had.
BatB. Short for "Brave and the Bold". Their duo figure is amazing for it's points and is always underestimated by opponents. Push off that top click to gain outwit and go crazy.

Ah, right. I have access to the duo base, but haven't used it yet. I do know it helps out people with what, a keyword in common or the duo attack symbol.. right? It's really a toss up though, because I like the leadership, Skeets power, and Time Travel power.. plus I can use the 65 pointer BB to gain outwit/perplex just by having them adjacent.
If you are going to go with the DC10 Beetle and Armor Piercing, I'd give serious thought to the 200 point Batman. Stealth will go a long way towards keeping Beetle alive. His dial is short and he doesn't reduce much damage. It's Guy Gardner who is supposed to be taken out with "one punch," not Ted!
And yes, the Blue Beetle and Booster Gold duo is a great value for JLI teams. Decent attacks, alternating Outwit and Perplex for much of the dial, and the attack bonus for figures sharing the keyword. Plus duo attack that doesn't reduce for the second shot, and better Range than either Beetles or the new Booster have. Even some move and attack, and Toughness throught the dial. If you've never used this clix, give it a try, you won't regret it!
Hahaha, funny you mention that.. the 110 point Guy Gardner got taken out last game I played him in one punch. My older brother used the new 52 Aquaman at 111 points, pushed a Mera token to death to activate the +1 to his dial, and had a red object.
The only thing I am not keen on with the Stealth and dual bases is finding good hindering to conceal the entire base, as I ran into that last game when I used Mister Miracle & Oberon dual base. But then again, they get the benefit of an 18 defense and indomitable.. but then again, the Blue & Gold benefits from energy shield deflection as well.
