And I like Superman. You're not going to change my mind. I'm still going to dislike the Red Hulks and the Sentry and nearly every Liefeld created character out there. Sole exception. female Dove.

Also, sorry if I came off more heated than I should have. I just think that discussions starting with "this is crap" don't really lend themselves well to discussion.

So the story, the meat of the character, isn't a consideration, it's the very concept that turns you off? I can dig that. Can't say I don't feel the same about certain characters/properties.

Call of Duty, the game series, is an example. No interest in the source material or the genre, no interest in the games.

Wait, there's source material?

Generic war, apparently.

I should also note that I have no interest in multiplayer. I prefer single-player immersion/escapism in my games. Not to say that MMO play doesn't provide escapism, just not the kind I dig.

To be fair, Sentry was a halfway interesting piece of meta-fiction before he got shoehorned into the mainstream Marvel Universe.

Oh, I remember the old days when I was the only Sentry fan in a world where everyone seemed to hate him. People would roll their eyes that he had the power of a thousand (or is a million?) exploding suns and other ridiculous hyperbole attached to him. I tried to explain that that was the whole point of the character, a commentary of sorts on comic book heroes and their mythologies, but people were having too much fun hating on him, at least at the time.

Then he banged Rogue and was forever hated by everyone.

Courtney Witemore. She may have started her hero career as a way to annoy her step-father, but she quickly grew into the role and became a responsible young adult.
