Just realized there are dissenting opinions here and neither was ever confirmed...?
I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.
“No matter how subtle the wizard, a knife between the shoulder blades will seriously cramp his style.”
So if there is a no dupes rule in a build can you use two figs that have diffrent dials but are the same fig?
edit: sorry, mis-read the question.
A "no dupes" rule or any form of Highlander ("there can be only one") is a local venue rule: there is no official rule other than the specific ones for Unique and Prime figures. So you'd have to ask the judge of the event how that would be ruled, as advice here would be speculative at best.

I've never heard a good answer for this. It's got another good figure for it in misty knight and Colleen wing.
There is no a or b on Colleen Wing and Misty Knight, the name and collector's number is the same no matter which dial you start on. It is unique and you can only have one of it on the board.
I understand the confusion for piloted and autopiloted vehicles, but I'd say a and b are the same figure.

There is a difference between the vehicles and say dark Phoenix though. The vehicles have 2 collector's numbers on the base, both a and b and no simple V001. Dark Phoenix has no e or r connected to her collector number just the different colored point distinctions.
You appear to be correct. I asked the question specifically in regards to Thanos, and it was pointed out that any 'a', 'b', etc. designation was solely to distinguish the dials in the Units section, but since then we have, indeed, had character bases with dials sub-texted with a letter.

For starters Colleen Wing and Misty Knight do not have an A or B dial at all. They are the same as Shazam! and Black Adam. You can never play two of them and you can switch starting lines each game.
A and B dials are two different characters and you cannot switch them inbetween games even if they are the same point cost.
