What's the specs on the rule of 3 with resources. Can I get +2 from a resource and perplex x2?
no. rule of three prevents this. the only loophole is something that alters "totals" instead of "values" but this is rare.
u can give all the perplexes u want but when you use the value it will check and cap at three. you can do more than three but that only helps to offset opponents perplex.

You can never end up with total modifiers to a combat value of more than + or -3, regardless of the source. Remember, though, that this only applies to combat values being modified, so you can have a replacement that changes the amount by more than 3, or things other than combat values can be modified by more (such as damage dealt, which is not a combat value.)

Guessing I read that bit before picking up on what combat values were and just equated it to all stats.
there isn't a totally set set verbage for rules yet but basically words like modify, add, subtract, increase, or decrease indicated "modification".
words like instead or as if indicate a replacement. the differences can be a bit subtle sometimes.
hang out in the rules forum when u can and you'll pick up on all kinds of little differences. like i was reading the barda vs. calendar man and because his halving is a replacement and so is hers, the active player chooses the order to apply them so if u apply his first then hers will ignore his but a modifier to her speed before boom tube will still affect her replacement. also read madame webs sp and take note that she changes the "total" not the "value" so that isn't subject to the rule of 3, crazy little diffs.

Actually there is. Especially in this case. From the rule book, page 5:
MODIFIERS
Modifiers increase or decrease a combat value by a specific amount and are cumulative. Modifiers apply to a character for as long as that character meets the modifier’s requirements, and are added up when needed to determine a combat value. Modifiers use the word “modify” or “modifies” Modifiers never set combat values to specific numbers or halves; they involve adding (+) or subtracting (-).
Can't get much more set than a literal definition, no?
I know you've been kind of railing against the wording lately. And I get the frustration. At the same time, with the problems that ARE out there, it seems a little silly to go fabricating problems and making up stuff that is actually very cut and dried.

She absolutely does not ignore anything at all. Ignore is a very specific word in HeroClix and means very specific things. Nowhere does the word "ignore" appear in Big Barda's Boom Tube trait:
Boom Tube: Once per game, give Big Barda a double power action to use Phasing/Teleport as if she had a speed value of 12. After actions resolve, you may give Big Barda a close combat or ranged combat action as a free action.
In fact, the replacement from Calendar Man totally happens... it just so happens that their are *TWO* replacements occuring, and the active player gets to decide the order. So replace first with a halved value (courtesy of Calendar Man) and then replace a second time with the 12 from Boom Tube: end result is 12.
But, since we alway, ALWAYS, ALWAYS replace then modify, after you replace her speed value with a 12, any appliciable modifiers are then applied.
Again, nothing is ignored. It is simply the order in which the effects are applied.

Crazy? I don't know about that. But if you mean that specific wording is very important, yes, that is true.

you are right there are some set words and i did misuse ignore in my rant.
now if i were a noob reading your post i might take it to mean that a modifier is only something that says mod, add, or subtract, but that's not entirely true is it? i'm not trying to poo where i sleep i just see that many of the problems we have are needless careless mistakes. yestersday an orange had to state that the use of the word wall in the trait stealth suit was merely a redundancy because it has already caused several players confusion. this is an every other day occurance and it stinks. i don't want to mine loopholes or break pieces, i want to know what to expect from the person across from me and for them to have some idea of what to expect from me. there is a great deal of frustration and it isn't just mine , i mean we have been waiting almost a month now to find out if we can dpa in combo with an effect that ends in a token.
please don't misunderstand my frrustration cuz it is not with the oranges and especially not you cuz not to kiss up but you and vlad are my fav oranges. i realize you guys are just trying to wrangle the gap between loophole miners and development, and that is one big void.
