I want these clixed: Doc Savage, Fu Manchu, Tarzan, The Shadow, The Green Hornet & Kato, Conan, Solomon Kane, The Phantom, King Kong, Universal Monsters, Black Orchid, Manhunter (Paul Kirk), Xemnu the Titan, unclixed Kirby Fourth World characters, and Lilith, Daughter Of Dracula.
Art Tatum - Those first few bars are perfect for describing the end of an evening and then he gets all skippy so it must have been a damned good night. Tatum, Brubeck, Bill Evans and Earl Hines are probably my four favorite jazz piano players and on this song Tatum shones.
Helloween - I was tempted to listen to this first just because it is Helloween. Anything was going to better than those four songs at the bottom. There were only two songs wortyhy of consideration on this list and four that sucked horribly. Luckily, this is one of the two good ones.
Jeannie C. Riley – Poor Jeannie, who did her hair? She looks like she was the model for the MGM lion. This song is wretched, but wretched still comes in better than the two under it.
Delta Highway – GO HOME ALREADY!
George Smith – It’s just an okay song. Had someone like Iron and Wine done this song I expect it would have been like number one or two, but his delivery leaves me wanting…a lot.
The Gordons - Okay I should have listened to this before I heard Jeannie, because now I have to change her wording from “Better than the two” to better than the three. OMG, I had coffee to wake up for this? Please stick a pencil in my eye and put me out of my misery.
Those bottom three could be listed in any order. I hope to never hear anything like that again.
1) Delta Highway - Easily my favorite here. Nice little country blues rocker.
2) Art Tatum - This is nice little piano piece.
3) George Smith - enjoyed this folky tune.
4) The Gordons - Always up for some bluegrass
5) Helloween - better then I expected.
6) Jeannie C. Riley - Didn't really get me going (pun not intended)
I just realized I forgot to put Kenny G. Oh well, we can get by without him.

Art Tatum - It was a real pleasure listening to him tickle the ivories.
Delta Highway - Fun rockin' bluesy number here
The Gordons - This is the kind of stuff that they would play on the country radio station in town when I was growing up that made me make the blanket statement for years that "I didn't like country music." As I branch out and hear more, I realize that country does not automatically equal bad. This particular song is still a little "twangy" to be something I'd really say I liked, but I'm not going to rank it rock bottom either.
Jeannie C Riley - I could have written much of the above about this song too. What an unusual topic for a country song - a faithful spouse. Anyway, I rank this one below the Gordons because at least the Gordons song seemed sincere. This one just seemed cookie cutter.
George Smith - Felt an awful lot like open mike night. And like the majority of open mike night performances, it's ok for the 2-3 minutes it's going on, but very forgettable.
Helloween - I'm not really even sure how to classify this one, but didn't do a thing for me. Even "open mike night guy" ranks higher.
I recently bought an ION turntable and have been dumping my vinyl into iTunes like crazy! Plus my son gave me $50 worth of iTunes credit, so I have actually bought about 12 of the songs I've discovered in the Rock Wars, Same Songs, OvC, etc. Still have $38 to spend. First songs I ever bought, and I love it! All that to say, putting 825 songs into my iPod has kept me busy, and offline. Sorry for being tardy Captain, but still appreciate your music tastes, and look forward to comparing these this weekend.
1) Delta Highway - really fun, the singer has a great voice, and the guitar solo was amazing
2) Art Tatum - beautiful piece
3) Helloween - like a cross between Megadeath and Living Color
4) George Smith - ok, not too interesting
5) Jeanie C Riley - oh the perm and sparkly outfit, I thought this was a Poison video
6) The Gordons - I've been known to enjoy a few (not many) folk tunes, but this was too folky for me.
1- Delta Highway- Yes! One of the best versions in the whole contest. Makes you want to get up and move. Rock, blues, real, from my home town.
2- Art Tatum- I remember parts of this from my first years of piano lessons in the second or third grade, and always thought it a really pretty piece of music. Although I studied piano for years, I'm pretty sure I never had a prayer of playing anything as impressively as this. Pretty.
3- The Gordons- Pretty song.
4- George Smith- A pretty decent song, good tone for a "Going home" tune, with a mix of a little sad, and a lot hopeful. Surprised that I just enjoyed listening to it.
5- Jeannie C. Riley- Solid, country standard feel to it. Nothing special, but certainly not bad.
6- Helloween- Sounds Celtic Metal/Morman Tabernacal(sp?) Choir/Scorpions/Boy Band...I'm so confused. Doesn't sound like other Helloween I have heard.
PS- After reading everyone else's comments, I realize I must be in a really good mood, which leads to forgiving more mediocre songs than usual. To be clear, Delta Highway is the only song that I would actually buy. I enjoyed #2 quite a bit, and the rest didn't irritate me. On another day, I could have been less kind from #3 on down! But at least for tonight, enjoyed most of them, and always enjoy rating them.
3) Jeannie C. Riley - Not sure the point number because VG9 posted 13 which can't be right.
4) Gordons - 16 pts
5) Helloween - 15 pts, beats #6 because of one second place vote to none.
6) George Smith - 15 pts
Delta Highway moves on to face the winners of the other Goin' Home matches.
