Hey guys can I get a little help? I'm, I guess, compared to most of you a casual Heroclixer, I play maybe once or twice a month, (mostly do to lack of opponents) the only time I get to play is when two of my friends, the ones who actually play Heroclix, have time to play. Well when I play I want to have fun and play teams that I would see in a comic or characters I've always wanted to see fight together, now in playing in this way I don't care about winning. However one of my friends is all about winning, win at all costs, sometimes this is fine with me you know add a little tension, competition and all, but not all the time. Every time we play he puts together these crazy teams that I have a very difficult time going against with my original X-Men team or my Fantastic Four team, he doesn't follow any comicbook scheme at all. And to add to this he has alot more powerful characters then I do and more disposible income to use to buy more clix. Anyway I was hoping some of the more proficient gamers here could give me some advice as to what kind of team I can put together to compete against his seemingly unbeatable teams, (mostly consisting of SOD Superman, V-E Batman, V-E Deathstroke, and many more hard to go against characters.) Here's a link to my Heroclix list.
I just want some kind of comicbook centered team to go against him, I can just go against him using the same mix and match team design he does but that's not fun in my eyes so I want to use teams you'd see in a comic book. We play 100, 300, 500, and 1000 point games. If someone could please help me I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!
i guess the best team against stealth would be a legion of super hero teams...w/ a rookie steel w/ the superman team ability. So you could see them. it's only dc?
Just a quick idea, after looking through your list, but how about an "All in the Family" team? Something like:
Mystique, Her Lovers, and their Children
R Mystique: 34 pts
R Destiny: 20 pts
E Sabertooth: 51 pts
Nightcrawler: 83 pts
V Rogue: 88 pts
=276 pts
It's not the most competitive group out there, but you've got Rogue to carry Sabes into battle, Destiny for rerolls, Mystique to Perpelx, and Nightie for the HSS. You don't use all your points, but until you can find more experienced versions of your guys (and you've got just enough points for an upgrade to a Victor Creed if you shuld ever get ahold of one), that's kind of unavoidable- and at least everything works together for decent force projection.
Anyway, good luck! Let me know if you like it!

You have the makings of a couple of playable teams with the figures on your list, but you are missing a few key pieces to give you a chance against your friend's teams, fortunately, with a little trading you should be able to fill a few gaps in your teams with fairly easy to get REVs that should be fairly cheap, even as singles.
The key to beating your friend is to figure out why his teams stop yours. The figures you give as examples on his teams (SOD superman, batman, deathstroke) are all very hard to approach and when you do get in their range they are all capable of hurting even the most expensive figure. Your own collection has some very good offensive pieces, but lacks figures that your opponant will be scared to get near...I'm guessing you lose a lot of your team to 'hit and run' type attacks rather than him actually going toe to toe with you team.
Your own collection has a pretty good core to make teams around avengers (thor, black panther, she-hulk are solid with cap america, hawkeye, and iron man, scarlet witch usable), x-men (nightcrawler, gambit, psylocke, storm, logan, jean gray are strong with colossus, iceman and prof x also usable). You also have a very strong core for a spider-man / sinister syndicate team (doc ock, vulture, scorpion)
DC you have a strong JLS/titans theme core (wonder woman, green arrow, steel, huntress, U supermantroia) and the beginnings of a batman enemies team (bane, manbat, shiva, harley quinn)
Your other potentially powerful figures are cheetah, firelord, deathstroke, saturn girl, silver samurai, deathstrike, abomnation, black cat.
What nearly all of your teams are missing, except for the avengers is outwit, which panther has. Outwit is probably your main way of making your opponant think twice about how close he wants to get with his big guns, and charge is your main defense against your opponant bringing his stealthed figures in too close. You have some charge on your heroic teams in shehulk and wonderwoman but not on your villan teams.
I'd suggest trying to pick up a few cheapish outwitters, like nightwing, EV flash. EV catwoman for your dc teams, kraven or mandarin for your marvel ones and using them to make your opponant think twice about closing in too close. Then use your chargers / running shot / hypersonic speed figures to pick off any part of his team that isn't defended. A bit of telekenesis helps a lot with this (jean grey, mandroid armour).
I'd say adding a little to your defence with outwit will be the best way to boost your teams without having to resort to just playing very powerful figures yourself. Supersenses can help against even the biggest hit, and even barrier will slow your opponant down a bit and give you a better shot, and of course, you can never go wrong with a little healing.
Well, just looking around at your list, and thought I'd try something. I'm not an expert at building, but I thought this could be worth something.
Bad Girls of DC with a Mind Controlled Helper
297
V - Cheetah - 63
E - Fatality - 68
E - Fury - 48
R - Poison Ivy - 35
E - Lady Shiva - 33
E - Deathstroke - 50 (Under mind control)
Fatality gives you TK, while Fury can charge and carry another, like Poison Ivy or Lady Shiva using either as Stealth blocking terrain. Deathstroke is your Outwit incase you need it. Cheetah can deal a decent amount of damage if B/C/F can hit just right. Also, she can be TK'd by Fatality and then Charge after a stealthed figure, which should help.
Just something I threw together, in fact it sounds fun enough I may have to try it some time.

Yeah he pretty much keeps his team back and waits for me to approach him, he keeps his outwitters in the "killzone" so when I come into range he outwits the powers he knows I'm going to use. Then he brings in his heavy hitters slaps me around for a turn and then retreats back and waits for another hit. I try to wait him out and make him come out of hindering (stealth) so we can fight but it's a win at all cost thing with him so he'll wait forever, I usually get tired of the game and just attack him just to break the boredom. I like the team SonyaX suggested but I might switch Destiny for a E Gambit and make it a even 300. Saying Gambit and Rogue are an item. Thanks for the suggestions I'll try them out.
Another way of minimizing his "power figs" is by playing lower point games. Anyone with enough inventory can throw together a terrifying 1000 point team, but a 100 point team takes more care and really needs to use some of the smaller units available. With that in mind (and agreeing that you could use some Outwit in there) here's a fairly typical Gotham scenario:
Batman Lends a Hand
R Batman 85 pts
R Gotham Police 11 pts
=96 pts
..which is actually a bit more expensive than E Batman, I think. The difference is that you'll actually have a higher attack than his Batman, the same range, and the same damage. Of course, don't let him know what you're going to field or the odds of this turning into "which Batman leaves hindering terrain first" is fairly high. On the other hand, if he goes for an Invulnerable beatstick (thinking that it's going to be hard to pierce it for under a hundred) you've got him.
Here's another idea- but it involves you getting your hands on a R Nightwing. On the bright side, V Nightwing is the one everyone wants, so he shouldn't be that hard to come by. Maybe I've been watching too much of the new Teen Titans cartoon, but..
Slade's Apprentice
E Deathstroke 50 pts
R Nightwing 42 pts
=92 pts
This I like- Nightwing's leadership gets you two attacks, Deathstroke's willpower lets you make good use of it, Deathstroke Outwits, and Nightwing's Incapacitate deals with those pesky Invulnerable types. Anyway- just more grist for the mill. Enjoy!

Man you guys are great! To answer lancealot we are using the post indy rules which actually help me somewhat as he doesn't have any Tk (or at least none that I know of) so he's slowed somewhat. He has a couple Nightwings that I might be able to get off of him, I would have to trade a Red Skull but since I never have used Red Skull it might not be such a bad trade. Plus using a clix he traded to me to beat him would be kind of sweet!
at any time, trading an unique should net you 5 to 10 good figures, especially if it s an unique in demand (NOT red skull, sadly, but he should net 5 good non's himself)
Are you a PbP'r (Play By Poster)? Come and check out www.creationmatrix.com; we've got EVERYTHING.
I'd hold onto the U if I were you- me, I usually insist on nons for nons, U's for U's, and LE's for LE's. Tell ya what- I don't know if I have an extra R Nightwing, but if you PM me your address I'll send you a couple figs from my extras box to give you a few more choices. They're just gathering dust over here anyway, since I play "no dupes".
Good luck beating this guy!
